  • May 24, 2016 — Getting Serious

In case you haven’t been following along I have been writing a serial for the last four-ish months. What started as a deadline to force me to keep writing has turned into a story that I enjoy writing. And I have learned a lot about having a serial from this experience.

  • May 05, 2016 — Invisible

Writing is one of my favorite things. And now that I have discovered the secret to writing I do it all the time. The secret? Write all the time.

  • May 05, 2016 — Back to Blogging

I have been busy writing and rewriting, so blogging has taken a backseat. I want to blog more but if I am going to let one form of writing slip it will be blogging. Fiction writing is much more personally rewarding and I enjoy doing it so much that it is hard for me to justify writing random thoughts down when I can instead move a story along.

  • Dec 07, 2015 — New Sites

You may have noticed that things have changed around here. I, in my infinite wisdom, decided I need to divide things up a little bit. As I attempt to write more and possibly sell those writings I felt like I needed a place to just write whatever. So that is here.

  • Dec 04, 2015 — Fiction

I won NaNoWriMo this year. Finally. I think I have attempted it two other times and both times failed to make it past 10,000 words. This year I had a plan and I followed it. Along the way I learned a couple things and found some neat tools.

  • Jan 02, 2015 — Writing

So… remember that post where I said I was going to stop blogging and write more… That didn’t happen.

  • Jan 01, 2015 — The Year That Was

In a lot of way 2014 sucked. The first part of the year specifically. We had a fun Christmas 2013 in Chicago and then when we arrived home we noticed that Thomas was acting weird/skinny/not eating. We took him to the vet and turned out he had fatty liver. So we fought that. Feeding tubes and cash seemed to help that problem. We took him to the vet to have the feeding tube remove and get the trouble making teeth pulled and everything was good. Or so we thought.

  • Aug 13, 2014 — Hiatus

Well folks, it is time. Time for me to stop messing around with this writing thing and attempt to make some money with it. I have been writing this blog for over twelve years. During that time I have learned a lot and I think I have become a better writer.

  • Aug 09, 2014 — Fear, Failure and Fun

    I wrote a book.

  • Jul 03, 2014 — Victim

Yesterday I was attacked. Physically attacked. I am not going to go into the details of that as the investigation is ongoing. What I want to delve into is the feelings I am currently experiencing.

  • Jun 21, 2014 — Cat Person

Growing up we always had a plethora of animals. Where Harper had computers I had animals. I raised every type of consumer rodent, a ferret, two snakes and one iguana. Some of these went better than others. The iguana was hard. The ferret was awesome but got cancer. This led me to be a lover of all animals.

  • Jun 09, 2014 — I am Such a (Gl)asshole

Harper got a google glass. I am not sure why he choose the orange one or how much he thought he was going to use it but he got one. As with many things I have now inherited it. I was told I cannot sell it for drugs. With that stipulation I decided I might as well use it and see what the big deal is.

  • May 21, 2014 — Nothing I can do

The school Sarah teaches at is in what they are calling a lockout. Not a labor lockout but a bunch-of-kids-threatening-to-shot-up-the-school lockout. I don’t know anything more then the news stories because the amount of communication with the staff has been minimal.

  • May 15, 2014 — Broken

    Losing Thomas broke me.

  • May 02, 2014 — Arguments

In my current job I get argued with quite a bit. As a professional people person I have picked up a few tricks that allow me to not win every time but to not lose. The problem with arguing in general is that it gets nothing done.

  • Apr 30, 2014 — Book 'em Dylo - A Confession

    I have failed.

  • Apr 27, 2014 — We are Dylan and Dylan

A couple years ago I received an email from Harper inviting Sarah and I to hang out over a weekend. I was excited that they must be in Colorado. I told Sarah who pointed out that they said also invited Milo… which was a little confusing. We soon realized (Sarah sooner than I) that Harper meant his work friend Dylan who also has a wife named Sarah.

  • Apr 22, 2014 — Therapy

For the about the last six months I have been going to see a therapist once a month. I know what you are thinking “Dylan, you are perfect, why would you need therapy?” It is quite simple:

  • Apr 20, 2014 — Cadaver

Don’t forget a new part to the story every Monday morning: FancyCadaver.com

  • Apr 17, 2014 — House of the Future

Sarah and I recently moved into a new home. It is a nice gigantic home that will allow us to put in studio space as well as have room to get 30 or 40 more cats. When we were getting ready to move Harper got really excited and sent us all sorts of neat things to make our home more automated.

  • Apr 15, 2014 — Writing Stuff and Things

I have been doing a lot more writing in the past couple months. Unlike a lot of my past writing this has been super focused on a single piece. In the past I was much more likely to write short little pieces without a lot of thought and planning. I wrote one of those pieces a while ago and shared it with Harper.

  • Apr 10, 2014 — Drop Lines

I don’t remember when it was but one time Harper and I got talking about public speaking and performance. We were with a group of people and Harper mentioned that his time spent performing as a juggler taught him how to react when something goes wrong. Jugglers call them Drop Lines. What you say when you fail. I have been thinking about this quite a bit since I have been performing more and more. A good drop line will save your act.

  • Apr 04, 2014 — Serial-essly

I have been working on writing outside my comfort zone more. I am fairly comfortable writing in this blog style or even longer pieces in the non-fiction preachy style of so many self help type books, however I am not good at fiction. That being the case I have been trying to find a way to write more in the fiction area while getting immediate gratification. Then it hit me!! Serial Stories!!

  • Feb 21, 2014 — Heckling

Heckling happens. Probably it happens to me more often then others as I am a performer but it does happen to everyone. And we all do it, maybe not overtly but we still all participate in heckling in some way almost everyday. It is because people as a whole are snarky and mean. Individuals are nice but the group is mean.

  • Feb 18, 2014 — Happy Birthday Thanks

A lot of people wished me a happy birthday on facebook and I wanted to say thanks for those wishes. I had a really nice birthday and it was nice of all of you for taking the time to say happy birthday to me.

  • Feb 07, 2014 — National Pride and the Luge

The Olympics start today. I love the olympics. The olympics were one of the events that my family would rent a TV for. I loved watching all of the events and listening to Bob Costas commentate. Now that I am an adult I still love the olympics but it is a lot more focused. I would probably watch every event and love it but since I have real responsibilities now I am unable to do that. Also I don’t have regular TV so that makes it a little harder, unless netflix or hulu is streaming them…

  • Feb 05, 2014 — Help I'm Cold

  • Feb 04, 2014 — OMG MOAR SNOW

We are having a real winter in Colorado for the first time in a while. We have snow on the ground for extended periods. Normally it just snows and then melts the next day. Because of this a lot of people don’t know who to drive in snow. I thought I would try to break it down into three easy tips.

  • Jan 30, 2014 — Dress For the Job You Want

    Not the job you have.

  • Dec 30, 2013 — Book 'em Dylo!

I have been stuck in a little bit of a reading rut. I read the same books over and over again. On the plus side I really enjoy the books I read, on the minus side is the fact that I rarely experience the joy of surprise that comes from reading a new book.

  • Dec 02, 2013 — As I walk Through the Shadow of Thanksgiving

    I shall fear no evil.

  • Nov 04, 2013 — Audience Training

As an entertainer so much of my job is audience training. I have to teach the audience how to react to things. I blame the internet and TV for this. I remember when I was a child if I saw something cool I would applaud or laugh or at least smile. And while I may have been a little bit of a weirdo as a child I don’t think my reactions were different then my peers.

  • Oct 31, 2013 — Juggling- That Shit Ain't Easy

I have been juggling a lot lately. I have been juggling for a long time. About 15 years now and I have been doing the same tricks for about 14.75 of those. Why? Because it was easy. I have been focused the last decade and a half on perfecting my patter and audience management. As such I didn’t really need to have a thousand tricks I just needed about 20 that are hilarious. I also spent most of my time trying to figure out how to get more gigs and performing for children. And to be perfectly honest I was lazy.

  • Oct 23, 2013 — How to be a Less Annoying Co-Worker

Lately I have been becoming more and more grumpy. Actually angry might be a better word. Or annoyed. I am not sure what the exact term I am looking for is. It all came to a head last night when my exceedingly patient wife sat me down as was like “Duude, what is going on with you?” <

  • Oct 08, 2013 — Get up, Stand up

This past weekend I did my first stand up performance ever. I think it went pretty well. It was a different experience then most of my previous entertainment. Most of the entertaining has props. This is a great thing as it gives you a bit of a buffer if you mess up. If a joke bombs you can do a trick to distract the audience. With magic so much of the performance is based around the cards that most of the words you say are build up or misdirection. Guess what you hid behind when doing stand-up?

  • Aug 29, 2013 — The Cowards Method

You may have read the Harper Post. I wrote that over the course of a month or so and it is probably one of the posts that I thought most about. I wanted to be able to express a point without making anyone feel like I slighted them. I have, at times, had a lot of younger sibling bitterness. Because of this bitterness I have not always expressed my feelings in a way that doesn’t hurt peoples feelings. I am sometimes bad at words.

  • Aug 05, 2013 — The Three Headed Butcher Monster

As you may or may not already know a tornado touched down in Greeley yesterday. Let me say that again: a TORNADO!!! touched down in Greeley. It didn’t do any damage that I have heard about and no one was hurt or killed by it but it is still crazy. Tornados are amazing things. They destroy stuff like nothing else. Luckily this one was kind of a pussy and make horrible things happen.

  • Jul 25, 2013 — Throwing Things at Your Face

I am pretty sure I have written a version of this post before but whatever.

  • Jul 03, 2013 — 10,000 Hours

There is a saying that basically says that if you want to perfect a skill do it for 10,000 hours. That is a long time. Like more then a year of your life only doing that thing. This isn’t learn a skill and then a little over a year later you will be a master. This is spend 10,000 hours actually doing that skill.

  • Jun 30, 2013 — The "Harper" Post

If you live under a rock you may not have heard that Harper was the CTO for Obama’s campaign. Which is/was amazing. I have wanted to do a post about it for a while but couldn’t think of the best way to write it. I was worried that it would come off as a little brother being jealous of a successful older brother. Which I totally am. No lie. I am super jealous of Harper.

  • Jun 26, 2013 — Well Crap Sandwiches: Update

This is not a good news update. Of course it is not a bad news update. Just an update of sorts.

  • May 13, 2013 — Well Crap Sandwiches

On Friday my briefcase with all my balloon sculpture stuff was stolen. I keep it all in a hard briefcase. The kind of briefcase that always holds loads of cash in movies. I have had the same case for 7 or 8 years and it has served me well. Also in the case was about 1200 balloons, a custom balloon apron, two pumps and some stickers.

  • Mar 26, 2013 — Happy New Year!!

I guess I may be a little late on this. Whatever.

  • Dec 12, 2012 — Awesome's Vlog #1

Still need to add arm rods and become better at syncing mouth with words. But fun to make. More to come probably. Also the intro music is super loud. Must fix that!!!

  • Nov 30, 2012 — Project Finished

I finally finished building a foam puppet… It only took me a couple years to get it done. Now I want to build another one with what I learned from this one. It is quite a bit of fun and not that difficult if you aren’t afraid to do a little experimenting.

  • Aug 21, 2012 — The Post of the Beast

  • Jul 06, 2012 — 30 Year Old Sidekick

Last Tuesday I spent three hours on stilts. Not only was it super hot but it has been a while since I had spent much time on stilts. I forgot the trick of wearing long socks so that the straps don’t dig into my legs. I regret this. I have a pretty awesome blister on my leg. It isn’t super painful but it also isn’t awesome.

  • Jul 05, 2012 — As We Know It

I have been trying to come up with a good post about video game making for a while. I am by no means a well known developer. I am not even sure I am an indie developer… not yet. But then again maybe I am.

  • Jul 02, 2012 — Running through Sprinklers

Sarah and I have been getting up in the mornings and walking. We average about 2.5 miles and it is a great time to just talk. We wonder all over our neighborhood and occasionally grab a treat. The other day we were walking home and it was hot. Super hot. Then we saw them: Sprinklers. We ran through them like crazy people. This got me thinking about hobbies.

  • Jun 30, 2012 — Doing Good

Sarah and I have been being sloths. It isn’t entirely our fault, we blame numb3rs and netflix. We started watching numb3rs from season one and it has been a lot of fun but it has stopped us from doing a lot of other things, like yoga. On the plus side it has given me time to think about life.

  • Jun 05, 2012 — Another Ocean Graphic

Seriously lets explore the ocean. Screw astroid mining and moon colonies… lets have an undersea colony.

  • Jun 02, 2012 — Finally

We have finally launched Joe and Ems!!!! Check it out!!![][1]

  • Apr 27, 2012 — Falling Cats or How I Learned to Love Feature Creep

I just released v. 1.0 of Falling Cats on the iTunes Market for free. So go download it… I’ll wait…

  • Apr 27, 2012 — The Accidental Hipster

I have joked about this a lot but it is unfortunatly true. I am an accidental hipster. I wear the skinny jeans, the threadless shirts, the thick framed glasses and am always trying to grow a moustache or forgetting to shave. The nice thing is it has all been Harper’s fault.

  • Apr 19, 2012 — Focus

Harper and I had an interesting conversation yesterday. It was about ideas and games. We were discussing one idea in particular when he said something along the lines of “Dylan you have a hard time focusing.”

  • Apr 18, 2012 — Lucky Awesome Super Book Fun Times

I recently had the pleasure of reading a whole slew of awesome books. I have no complaints about what I read normally I just had an incredible run of luck with the last four books I read.

  • Apr 16, 2012 — Yippee!!! - 3D

As I posted here I have a crush on the Nintendo 3DS. As luck would have it I now have one. I got the blue-ish one and I love it. I have Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario Land 3D. I am enjoying both of them a lot and find the 3D to be more then just a fancy gimmick. What I like is that you can turn it off if it hurts your brain or if you are going to be moving a lot while playing.

  • Apr 11, 2012 — Talented

I love meeting with people who know what they are talking about. The people who are so focused in their field that they can answer any question you have or point you in the proper direction. I will never be one of those people.

  • Apr 10, 2012 — Finishing Shit

I am currently suffering from to many projects and not enough time to finish them. Add to this the normal things that are life and I need to figure out how to get things finished. Part of the problem is that I am not recieving all the support I need from my partners in crime. Some of this is laziness on their end some of it is me not asking for help when I need it. The other part of the problem is that I love all of my projects. ALL OF THEM.

  • Apr 09, 2012 — Why Ocean Exploration is Cooler then Space Exploration

To start I just want to say that I am a fan of space exploration and do think that it is important to explore the universe, etc. I just think that we are missing a huge opportunity when we neglect our planet. I am super biased towards Ocean exploration because I have spend a lot of time underwater and the underwater world fascinates me and has since I was a young person.

  • Apr 01, 2012 — 2012: A Fitness Odyssey

So apparently I have let my self go… physically. I have hopefully topped out at 170 lbs and I am not necessarily proud of my belly. So I am going to make it disappear.

Here is the plan: Yoga at least 4 times a week. Jog at least 10 minutes 4 times a week(and increase that to 20 minutes next month, etc.) I am also going to do some sort of push-ups or sit-ups every week day.

  • Mar 30, 2012 — All or Nothing

I spend a lot of time on the internet. Probably less then some but more then a lot of people. I also tend to judge a business on their online presence. I really like it when a business is online in all the same spaces I am. It isn’t enough to just have a webpage; I want a twitter feed, maybe an instagram account and possibly some sort of an blog.

  • Mar 29, 2012 — Well it hit me

Today was a rough day. Apparently enough time has passed and my brain has finally decided to be sad. Really sad. This is one of those days when working from home sucks. Since I spent most of my day home alone I got to remember all of the fun things I did with my grandpa. I wouldn’t remember them all at once but instead it was much more of a shocking moment that would make me really sad followed by a lot of sad retrospection.

  • Mar 28, 2012 — The Same

I have noticed that a lot of people have a work life and a home life. They exhibit one set of characteristics at work and then another when they are not at work. Don’t do this. You will be happier in life and at work if you are honest about who you are in both places. This is because no one likes to be lied to.

  • Mar 27, 2012 — Pure Creation is Hard

As a sometimes writer, sometimes artist, sometimes programmer I have noticed an alarming trend. People are afraid of creation. Not the bible thumping kind of creation but the actually putting your ideas out there to be looked at by other people. That kind of creation scares the shit out of most of us. I have been there, I understand. It is scary to create something show it to other people and not know what they are going to say, do, feel or what ever.

  • Mar 21, 2012 — On Mourning in the Morning

  • Mar 09, 2012 — OMG!!! A Giant Snake Has Gotten a Hold of Me!!

And it is all Harper’s fault!!!

  • Feb 20, 2012 — Really GameSalad!!!

Recently GameSalad updated their game making application which I have been using to make a game. Typically when they do an update it is focused on adding new features to the program, which as a user is what I want. This update however is a little bit of a slap in the face to the free users(also known as Beta Testers since they are still in Beta). What they have done is taken away the Game Salad splash screen (which is standard for Pro members) and allowed you to use your own. So far so good. The problem comes in with this next part. After my Splash Screen what appears is an ad for another game from the PlayHaven network.

  • Jan 19, 2012 — Magical Tablet Magic

I was lucky enough to receive both a kindle fire and an ipad 2 for christmas this year. I also have a nook color that I use for testing apps for work. I have an abundance of tablets at my disposal. I use them all for different things. The nook is used primarily for testing and I find it to be the most klunky of the the tablets. The interface is not set up as nice or seem as well thought out as the kindle fire. The kindle fire was, for the week that I had it before I got the iPad, my comics tablet. I used it primarily for reading older comics that I can’t find in graphic novel or collection form at the library or online (Marvel 2099 I am looking at you).

  • Jan 06, 2012 — Learning

Harper recently sent me a link to this article. I read through it and found it interesting. A lot of people in it talked about what they learned while at MIT or other universities and how their successes came not from being smart but learning how to be smart. Looking at the way successful students applied themselves to course work and figuring out what they were doing to be successful. Another portion of people where the “I’m X years old and universities were hard when I was 20 and I dropped out and heading back to school because I now understand learning.” This is where I am.

  • Nov 08, 2011 — Last of the Greats

You may remember my post about Horror Comics and Echoes… you may not… the Dude who wrote Echoes, Mr. Joshua Hale Fialkov has done it again. Last of the Greats is a fantastic look at superheros. Fialkov takes the ideal superheros that came to earth to save us and shows how humans would turn against them. Not only that but he has done it in a way that is fresh. This isn’t Irredeemable or Invincible, in fact it doesn’t even start with an ‘I’. A nice thing about Last of the Greats is that it is a new series, which means if you start reading now you can keep up and not fall behind. Issue two came out last week and you can read both of them at Graphicly.

  • Oct 27, 2011 — FAG: it is a shitty word

Today I took a break from work to go and get a slurpee. Normally this isn’t an event that requires a blog post. In fact I wouldn’t be writing this post if it weren’t for the hateful people that apparently frequent the same 7-11 that I do.

  • Sep 23, 2011 — I thought I was over it...

But I am not. I am speaking of course about video games. I haven’t been playing them very much lately. In fact I wasn’t playing them at all. Then I started working from home and needed something to relieve the stress. It started with Civ V, then Cities in Motion, then Arkham Asylum(again) and then Saints Row 2. I have made the mistake of looking at what games are coming out before Xmas and there are too many good ones. Modern Warfare 3, New Elder Scrolls, Saints Row 3, Arkham City, Bioshock 3(which comes out after Xmas) and many many more.

  • Sep 07, 2011 — On Comic Books

Thanks for Bob King I have started reading comics again. The problem was that when I first started I didn’t know what to read. Through his suggestions I started reading a lot of DC comic issues. I have really enjoyed them and all that but now there is a problem. They are relaunching everything. I find this irritating because I had just started to get into the books I have been getting and now they are restarting everything. So all the things that I loved are starting from square one again.

  • Aug 31, 2011 — The Importance of Story

I have recently been trying to figure out life. Not in any sort of deep way, just trying to figure out where I am headed… or at least the direction I should go next. Whenever you try and figure out where your life is going you tend to look at where you have been so far and use that as a basis for where you are leaping off too next. Typically you look back and have a few momments of “Well Crap I shouldn’t have done that”. As I look back I didn’t see very many of those. And the ones I did see had more to do with accruing debt then actual life altering mistakes.

  • Jun 26, 2011 — HEY PIXAR

I have long been a fan of pixar movies and them as a company in general. This drawing that I did today is an idea for the next big pixar movie or short. Pixar, shoot me a message if you want to use it.

  • Jun 09, 2011 — Not normally a fan of Horror Comics but...

But Echos has been a lot of fun. I just finished number one this morning and am excited to start number two.

  • May 05, 2011 — Another Part Time Job

Sarah and I have decided that, like many Americans, we need more money. Alas opportunities for extra money are not as readily available as you might think. Crazy right. We started looking at home businesses that would allow us to do something we are good at while making us money. We settled on Pampered Chef. We choose Pampered chef primarily because we love their products, which makes selling a lot easier, plus we like to cook so it should be pretty fun to sell as well. This is our first experiment into the world of Multi level marketing which I have heard good and bad things about. The bad things seem to be based around the promise of riches with not a lot of work. Luckily Sarah and I understand that we will have to work hard to make this work. Be prepared to be contacted about buying Pampered Chef stuff, because it is on.

  • Apr 14, 2011 — I had to share this

Next weeks theme is Panda-ring. And I had to share this video

  • Apr 13, 2011 — I have almost succeeded

I am a little more then halfway through the week and I have posted a bunny pic everyday. Go me. I am currently trying to decide what to do next week over at the Cadaver. I am undecided if I should do another specific animal or if I should just rock out with colored pencils. I have decided on a focus for my cartooning ideas and am going to start the character development/ script writing this weekend. Of course this weekend, for me, means Thursday and Friday since I am pretty sure I am working all weekend.

  • Apr 07, 2011 — Next Week on Fancy Cadaver

I have decided that I need to give my self a little more direction on what I am going to draw on Fancy Cadaver. Otherwise it just ends up being random collection of drawings. Which is fine except I don’t think I am growing as much as I would if I had a specific goal each week.

  • Mar 30, 2011 — Nostalgic Target Adventures

I went to Target to pick up Sarah’s prescriptions and whilst I was waiting a came across the Nintendo 3DS. I played Pilotwings on the demo machine and all I could think of, aside from how much fun it was, was all the times Harper and I would go to Target with my mom and play tetris on the demo machine of the original Gameboy. These same visits would enevitably end with my mom having to page us over the PA system, which pissed her off, and we would hurry to the front of the store.

  • Mar 24, 2011 — Quick Update

This week has been pretty busy. Sarah is having nine gum grafts done tomorrow. She is super excited. In order to make sure that Sarah can rock out the healing we have been getting the house super clean so that she will relax and not worry about having a clean house. Because of this I have been cheating and using old drawings over at the Cadaver and will start putting new works back up soon, probably next week but it all depends on how Sarah’s recovery goes and how much time I have. Please send Sarah your happy thoughts, etc.

  • Mar 17, 2011 — An Extension of the Previous Post

My last post was all about my process, when in actuallity it was a snapshot of my process circa 2010. It is now 2011 and I have an updated version of my process for you to look at. This is one of the first retro cartoony style drawings I have done that is 100% my own. Unlike previous drawings I have done that draw inspiration from books, this one was done with just me, some pencils and a sketchbook. With that bit of an intro I am happy to present, The Not So Crazy Cat Lady:

  • Mar 15, 2011 — If Your Interested

I thought I would show you the process I typically use to get a drawing done. The first thing to come is an idea. In the case of the Laser Saurus the first sketch was of safety dino.

  • Mar 10, 2011 — I Got Better

  • Feb 28, 2011 — Slight Set Back

I posted last week with a list of all of my big plans and how excited I was to work on them. Unfortunately it was a shitty week, Sarah’s mom had to put a cat to sleep, my mom faked a heart attack(not really but she had some chest pains and everything turned out ok) and on top of all that I am being skull fucked by my sinuses. It is a bunch of crap. So in lieu of not posting anything I will just give you an update. I am still sick. I don’t like it and I hope to feel better and start work on my secret project soon. That is all

  • Feb 22, 2011 — This Weeks Plan

After spending a long weekend relaxing with my wife and resetting my body I came up with some ideas that I am going to pursue over the next couple weeks. Because of this there may be a little less blogging, a little less finished drawing and a lot more work. Here is the order in which I hope to complete things:

  • Feb 17, 2011 — How It Works

Or, Why I Like Drawing Animals

  • Feb 15, 2011 — A Decision Has Been Made

Last night, well actually all day yesterday, was my 30th birthday. The day that I said I had to decide what book I was going to use in my drawing studies first. And BAM! a decision has been made. I will be using this book:It has step by step instructions, not on how to draw certain characters, but on how to draw your characters. I think this will help me create my own characters while getting a lot of practice drawing. I start tomorrow with the drawing, mostly because today is filled with work, and will be trying to post to Fancy Cadaver every day. Check it out.

  • Feb 14, 2011 — Today is My Birthday and My 600th Post

    I AM OLD!!!

  • Feb 10, 2011 — I Tried It

As promised I attempted the Manga drawing. It wasn’t so bad.

  • Feb 10, 2011 — The Ugliest Robot

  • Feb 09, 2011 — New Business

    [caption id=”attachment_1189” align=”aligncenter” width=”367” caption=”The Cadavers here are the Fanciest”][/caption]

  • Feb 07, 2011 — This is Directed at my Sinuses

    [caption id=”” align=”aligncenter” width=”353” caption=”Seriously WTF sinuses. I thought we were friends”][/caption]

  • Feb 06, 2011 — Digital Coloring

A lot of people ask me about digital coloring… ok, no one asks me about it but whatever. I just remember that when I was trying to figure out how it was done I found a lot of tutorials that explained how it was done but were confusing and hard to follow. Here is what I did. I started with this:

  • Feb 04, 2011 — Chibi Chibi Ho

Yesterday I didn’t leave my house. This worries me a little bit because I don’t really want to be a hermit. It may be too late but we can hope.

  • Jan 30, 2011 — Drawing Fun Update

I really enjoy drawing, as I think I have mentioned, i just wish I was better at it. I was going to try and work my way through a drawing book a month but I found that starting with the comic book super hero style to be a step above what I felt I could do. Rather then abandon my idea all together I found another book: Cartoon Cool by Chris Hart. This book has a lot of fun stuff in it and the style of drawing is reminiscent of Jetsons Cartoons. Not only do I really enjoy this style of art but it is very fun to play with. It is much more playful then traditional comics and I think it fits my comic ideas a lot better.

  • Jan 27, 2011 — 2011 So Far

I have been working a lot, playing minecraft a bit, drawing often and reading a bunch. I am currently enjoying playing with a more retro (Meet the Jetsons) style of drawing…

  • Nov 23, 2010 — Drawing is Hard

I am procrastinating the project I am supposed to be working on by coming up with projects for myself for the coming year. Here is the first project you will see updated at least weekly on dylanreed.com.

  • Nov 21, 2010 — When Life Gets You Down

As you may have read I am taking a leave of absence from school and finding a job or jobs that will let Sarah and I be awesome this year and allow me to go back to school with no more debt. While I am super happy about being able to go back to school with no more debt it is a hard thing to stop school when I am doing so well. Part of what is making that so difficult is the fact that jobs are a bear to find right now.

  • Nov 19, 2010 — The last one, I promise

Ok I lied. While this is the last sketchbook shot of the Laser-Saurus I cannot promise that I won’t post a picture of the completed drawing. But whatever.

  • Nov 16, 2010 — I Have a New Love

And it is drawing. I am currently enrolled in an intermediate drawing class at Colorado State University and it has opened up a whole new spectrum in interest in drawing. Part of it is that this class consists of having fun while drawing. The teacher also believes that everything is drawing. This means that I have gotten away with spray painting and glittering a tire and it has been considered drawing. But what I have really enjoyed has been the actual drawing that I have done.

  • Nov 16, 2010 — Laser-Saurus Rex

Here is a detail of the head portion of this project. It is still in my sketchbook. I need to start working big… I guess that is what Fall Break is for.

  • Nov 14, 2010 — Dino-Roar

If you follow me on twitter or facebook you have probably seen the pictures I did this week that I called Dino-Roar. I thought I would share this sketch with you and then I will post a picture of the final project when I finish it in about 4 weeks. This is my first time experimenting with nice markers, and possibly markers in general. All I have to say so far is the Prismacolor makes really nice markers, really nice but expensive markers.

  • Nov 10, 2010 — Chugga Chugga Chew Chew

I am writing to let everyone know about the comic they should be reading. Chew is that comic. It is one of the hardest to explain yet most enjoyable comics I have read in quite some time. Here is what the official blog says :

  • Nov 09, 2010 — At Times I Wish I Had A Teleporter

But we’ll get to that later.

  • Jun 26, 2010 — An Interesting Vacation

Last week is the last of two weeks that I have had off from my other job. Needless to say Sarah and I where going to spend it blissfully finishing projects around the house and being awesome. Then we heard the big news… My Uncle Kevin was going to get a Kidney Transplant. This was shocking news because as far as we knew he needed a new kidney but was just starting to get added to the list. In fact he was added to the list two weeks ago and got really lucky.

  • Jun 12, 2010 — Summer Projects

Well it sumer here at the Reed compartment and since both Sarah and I have almost all of the summer off this has become the summer of projects. Here is a quick breakdown of what we have going on.

  • May 21, 2010 — Well Crap!!!

This morning, May 20th, I made Sarah and I homemade donuts with her donut pan she got for her birthday. We enjoyed them quite a bit and I shared one with my mom and one with my friend Jon. I forgot to take one over to my mother in law like I was supposed to. Luckily we had two left over that I ran over tonight with this card attached. Feel free to use it whenever you forget to give someone homemade donuts. For those of you that are wondering they where delicious and they were cinnamon/sugar cake donuts. Sarah also got a mini donut pan which we will try out next.

  • Apr 30, 2010 — Something Fun

I have started to work on a new project. You can find it here. I have moved the comic that was here over there. Check it out.

  • Apr 25, 2010 — Oh Shucks, I am a liar

I, Dylan Reed, am going to start writing everyday again. I am not going to falter in this. I will write down all of the random thoughts and if I feel it is worthy I will put it on the blog.

  • Apr 20, 2010 — Columbine

As the husband of a high school teacher I worry a lot about school shootings. I think that schools do not take threats seriously and that there is still a danger of school shootings happening in about any school. I woke up this morning not thinking of school shootings but about what I had to do in school today. I have an assignment I should be working on for composition class but I instead spent the last hour and a half reading about Columbine.

  • Mar 02, 2010 — I am Super Thanks for Asking

I have been working on this painting for 2d-design for about 8-10 hours now and it is awesome.

  • Feb 23, 2010 — Dental Hijinks

Today was the day. I spent a long time under the drill and the fixing of my mouth is just past halfway. Unfortunately the money is not quite there yet. So what we need to do is spread the word a little bit harder. Think of someone you know who really likes teeth, call them up and send them to me… I will be very thankful. Are you wondering what to get that person who has everything… Adopt a tooth in their name, they’ll love it. Well enough NPR fund raising back to the regularly scheduled blog.

  • Feb 16, 2010 — Moving Right Along

Well as you may have noticed the tooth bar just keeps right on moving along. This is wonderful because it means that we are now almost halfway to Dylan having a nicer smile. Harper has adopted five teeth and is pretty excited about it. There has also been a single tooth adopted by Wilfried Schobeiri, so a big thanks goes out to him. There is one tooth that is 1/7th adopted and another that is 1/5 adopted, don’t let them just sit their without full adoption. I have talked to my dentist and he says that he cannot just fill a cavity 1/5 of the way. So help out. Seriously. To those of you that have donated, the promised email etc. will be sent off this week, had a few problems with photoshop and need to get the picture updated. Thanks to all that have donated and thanks to all of you that are going to donate. To those that are not going to donate… Shame of you, what did my mouth ever do to you?

  • Feb 09, 2010 — Good Job and Special Thanks

  • Jan 19, 2010 — 28 Teeth That Need Your Help

The other day I went to the dentist. It wasn’t the most awesome check up but since it was the first one I have had since my wisdom teeth were pulled it wasn’t all that bad. In fact I wasn’t that surprised by what went down. I know that I have bad teeth . It is a fact that saddens me but on the same token is easily fixed. The problem is that I have really crappy enamel on the surfaces of my teeth. The rest of the tooth is fine, the enamel just gets eaten away which leads to cavities.

  • Jan 12, 2010 — Playing with a less then optimal number of people

Tabletop role-playing games are a lot of fun. Sure not all people would agree with me, in fact if you are one of those people you should stop reading now. I am not going to try and convince you that you should play tabletop RPGs. What I would like to talk about is playing dungeons and dragons with a party of less than the four or five recommended players.

  • Nov 16, 2009 — Attempt One: Back to Blogging

For some reason over the past four months, possibly longer, I have had little or no desire to blog. Nothing personal against you guys, it is just that I have been trying to find my stride at school. It was going well until I was hit with the H1N1 or as I like to call it the Swine Death Plague. That knocked me out for a little over a week and I have been playing catch-up ever since. Luckily CSU has been cool with the whole pandemic business and I didn’t fall that far behind. I am finishing playing catch-up today and I figured I could up date my blog and get back in the swing of writing. For your viewing pleasure, here is what I have been up to:

  • Jul 20, 2009 — Whats The Big Idea

  • Jun 10, 2009 — To Busy to Blog

I have reached he point in the year where I am to busy to blog. I keep trying to write up a blog about our trip or what is going on in my life and I just can’t make time. Sorry. Hopefully everything will get easier in the next couple weeks but I doubt it. I will attempt to do at least one update a week and see where it goes from there.

  • May 15, 2009 — I Fell Off the Wagon

So like any good addict I will make excuses. The reason I have stopped posting everyday isn’t my fault. It is your fault. Your expectations of me are un realistic. You don’t understand what I am going through. You have never been a 13-year old girl so you don’t know. *runs away like girl and slams door *

  • May 01, 2009 — Plate = Full

Recently I decided to get busy. I don’t know if it was a conscious choice or if my sub-conscious is trying to kill me again. Here is a breakdown of what I have committed to doing over the next couple of months.

  • Apr 26, 2009 — Weekend of Fun

This weekend was interesting. On Friday Sarah and I headed to Chicago to hang out with my brother. Well actually Harper and I were in charge of fixing Property Technica’s website, raising the awesome from the 2 that it is currently set it all the way up to 8. Originally we were going to try for a 10 but, considering that property management sites are not very popular, we settled for an 8.

  • Apr 22, 2009 — F.N.G., BearHop Superstar

  • Apr 20, 2009 — Steve the Hound

    Meet Steve the Hound
Growing up on a farm is hard. It is even harder when your a sheep-dog who loves musical theater. That is Steve the Hounds problem. Steve loves musicals. Whether it is Cats or Ragtime he just loves watching people sing, dance and have fun. He has tried his hand at theater a few times: a short run as the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz and one night as a the dog in Peter Pan(type casting). He followed his dream to New York were he was swindled out of his life savings by El Torrence. That is how he ended up here.

  • Apr 16, 2009 — Really NPR

I was listening to NPR this morning and was very interested in the story about Vietnam banning dancing. I found the story to be fascinating because I take my right to dance very seriously. I was already wondering if whoever proposed the law had watched Footloose. Do they really want tractor-chicken to replace dancing in Karaoke bars? I also fail to see the connection between dancing, prostitution and drugs. I could connect two of the three pretty easy but all three is hard.

  • Apr 15, 2009 — i do stuff

  • Apr 14, 2009 — End of the Semester is a Coming

I have about two weeks of school left. Ahhhh! I am not saying that I am not ready to be done with school; it’s just that I have neglected my history class a bit. I have done a really good job of keeping my Spanish class in line: getting an 82% on my last test and my Intro to PC Applications class is a joke. History, however, is a different story.

  • Apr 10, 2009 — Going Down

As a SCUBA/Commercial diver I have been lucky enough to dive in some pretty interesting places doing interesting things. This is one thing that I love about diving. You never know what you are going to see, if you see anything.

  • Apr 09, 2009 — My Secret Shame

  • Apr 08, 2009 — SCUBA Lust

As you may have noticed I went SCUBA diving recently. It was awesome. Needless to say I am once again hooked and remember why I love SCUBA diving so much. Of course hanging out with other divers and in dive shops exposes you to all the new fancy equipment, which makes you realize how out of date your own equipment is and causes you to drool on all the fancy stuff other people have.

  • Apr 07, 2009 — Into the Blue

Santa Rosa, New Mexico is home to one of my favorite dive sites, The Blue Hole. Sure I may have only been there twice, but it is just too awesome to ignore. This last weekend I was there and was able to get in four dives. I was a dive a long for Sarah’s certification. I hung out, watched every dive and had a really fun time.

  • Apr 06, 2009 — Self Contained Underwater Awesome

This last weekend was Sarah’s open water dives to receive her open water certification. She did an awesome job and is basically a badass. For those of you interested in SCUBA diving here is a brief overview of what the training consists.

  • Apr 02, 2009 — Frustratingly Content

You may have noticed that I haven’t posted in a while. That is because I have only recieved two slurpees. Come on. Really it is because my computer is being weird and wordpress isn’t posting stuff when it should. I am headed to NM for Sarah’s SCUBA certification and will get back to posting regularly on Monday. Happy weekend, buy me slurpees!

  • Mar 30, 2009 — Sleepy Tired

I am an unmotivated student today. I have a Spanish test in about two hours or so and I don’t really feel like studying. I don’t really know why I just don’t feel like it. Last night I tossed and turned worrying about the test and now I am up trying to study and I don’t really care.

  • Mar 27, 2009 — Buy Me a Slurpee

Slurpees are awesome. I have had a love-love relationship with slurpees for quite a while. It probably started when our old babysitter Amy used them as bribes for our good behavior. It would started simple enough, if Harper and I were not little shits she would buy us snacks from 7-11. It also became a type of reward after soccer practices and the like. Poor Amy probably spent a good part of whatever my parents paid her.

  • Mar 26, 2009 — Too Much

The internet is a funny thing. It seems that the more I get involved with it the more I have to get involved with it. I am on Twitter, Ginx (which uses twitter), Facebook, MySpace, worpress (both at wordpress.org and for my personal site), I have a site I designed for my clowning, there is Sarah’s Blog, Google Groups, Google Reader, Gmail, Google Apps, Etsy, viddler, Google Calendar, flickr, iTunes, and Aims Community College’s site

  • Mar 25, 2009 — Yeah…About That…

I have had the lamest about page on this site for about a year now. Seriously it was sad. I have fixed it up now and am quite happy about it. The problem with the old one is that it felt slapped together and to be honest it was. I wasn’t even trying when I wrote it, I just felt that I needed to have an about page so I wrote an about page.

  • Mar 24, 2009 — I've Got Your Set-up Fees

I have a few designs that I would love to see printed. Not for money or glory more of a vanity print. And not really printed so much as embroidered on a hat. Mostly the hats would be just for me because the designs make me chuckle. The problem is that it costs a dragons horde of gold…Sorry I mean a whole bundle of cash to “set up” an embroidery machine or so I am told. Here is what happened:

  • Mar 23, 2009 — Sorry...

I finally did it. I took a day off. I promised myself I wouldn’t do it. I would write and post a blog post every day this year, no matter what. I had a really good time yesterday and just didn’t have time to type up a post. Normally I would have my weekend posts typed and scheduled to post in advance but since wordpress has been giving me trouble on my scheduled posts I stopped doing that.

  • Mar 23, 2009 — The Solution

There is no question that sharks are in danger of being hunted to extinction. The question is what do we can do about it. The first step is to do everything possible to protect the current shark populations. This is similar to the situation that the harp seal was in thirty years ago. Clubbing baby seals was actually a lucrative way of making money. That was until the United States and allies started putting pressure on the countries that exported seal fur. This pressure made it impossible to sell the fur and created a public outcry against the practice of wearing seal fur garments.

  • Mar 21, 2009 — Opps

Apparently Today and Not Tomorrow is Harpers’s Birthday

  • Mar 20, 2009 — The problem that has arisen

I have been enjoying blogging quite a bit, partly because of the joy I get in writing and partly because my writing has been getting some feedback. Positive or negative the feedback is helping to make me a better writer. Unfortunately this last week has been filled with a number of poorly written posts and today I didn’t start writing the post until 2:45pm. Last post I cited that I was having an ADHD week and having trouble focusing. This is true and until about an hour ago I didn’t know why. I now know.

  • Mar 19, 2009 — An Attack of ADHD

Yesterday’s post was bad, really bad. I had a point in that post, I know I did, but I missed it due to my brain wondering. I am sorry about that. Rather than going back and trying to figure out what in god’s name I was trying to write I will just move on and hope for the best.

  • Mar 18, 2009 — A New Fighter has Entered the Ring

I have long rail against killer whales. Mostly because I feel that they are getting all of the good press that should go to other more interesting Apex Predators, namely sharks, and partly because I think they are evil. I am not going to belabor the point and give you my reasons why I think they are evil; you can read my other posts to get that. What I will say is that it is time to recruit some other mammals to help us fight them.

  • Mar 17, 2009 — Living with Pain

Chronic pain is a part of a lot of people’s lives, mine included. The worst part of chronic pain is that you know you can’t do anything about it, there are rarely any drugs that help with it, and you feel like you are the only one who is experiencing that type of pain. What I have noticed a lot of people doing is misinterpreting how they have to treat their pain.

  • Mar 16, 2009 — Response to the Anti-Sharks

The primary reason that sharks are fished, legally and illegally , is for their fins. This destructive industry could be changed with some creative aquaculture. Aquaculture is the practice of farming fish in the ocean. It should be possible to farm sharks in this manner allowing for a controlled population to be fished instead of the accidental catch that is the primary way that sharks are caught currently. This would also allow regulation on the size of sharks captured as well as provide a research are for studying sharks.

  • Mar 15, 2009 — Other Ways I am Going to Become Super

After rereading my Super Power Post I realized that I neglected quite a few ways that I might get super powers. This was unintentional on my part and I feel pretty bad about it. Here are three more ways I can aquire my much needed super powers.

  • Mar 14, 2009 — Reading- Googlestyle

Harper has been trying to get me to use Google reader for some time. Mostly because he thinks it is awesome. Well, Harper, I am sorry to say that you were right. It is awesome. I love the way it compiles all of the things I used to have to cruise around to get. I also enjoy finding new things, like soap, within the feeds.

  • Mar 13, 2009 — D & D Financial Planning

Everything I needed to know about saving money I learned from Dungeons and Dragons. Yep, it’s true, Dungeons and Dragons holds the key to saving money and paying off your debt. Here are some tips on saving money that any table top RPG playing nerd could teach you.

  • Mar 12, 2009 — 500 posts?

I have finally done it. 500 posts. Wow. That seems like a lot of posts but when I look back I realize that it has taken me forever to get here. I have been blogging since I started the College of Oceaneering in 2002. That is 62.5 posts a year. The year with the most posts is 2007 where I went a little crazy in the summer. 2006 and 2003 are the next highest post count. So far this year I have posted more then I did in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2008 apparently I was busy those years.

  • Mar 11, 2009 — I Got Soap In My Mind

The other day, by which I mean more then a week ago, through the magic of the Google Reader I stumbled upon a site dedicated to making your own soap. Not only did it make soap making look easy it made it look fun. I now want to make my own soap.
I explained this to Sarah and actually got a look. This isn’t the normal “Dylan is so crazy look”, it was more of the “Really you want to make soap” look. I enjoyed the look and am trying to figure out ways that I can get it more often. Back to the soap.

  • Mar 10, 2009 — You Have to Get Up Pretty Early

Since Sarah started teaching we have been getting up around five in the morning. This was born out of necessity but for me it has become something I look forward too. Not everyday, of course, but most days I look forward to my time in the morning before work or school.

  • Mar 09, 2009 — Arguments Against Saving the Sharks

There are very few places in the world that are openly against saving the sharks. There are a few places that are openly against regulations that would limit the methods in which sharks could be caught. Two countries that feel that shark finning is a necessity are China and Japan.

  • Mar 08, 2009 — Maybe I Just Don't Understand

I have been doing some reading recently about the economic stimulus plan and how it is affecting mortgages. What I have read has actually made me a little mad. It seems that in order to qualify for the monthly payment reduction you have to be behind on your payments. WHAT!?! This makes no sense to me. If they are going to reduce your payments you still have to make those payments. If someone can’t make a $1600 to $2000 payment what is to say that they are going to be able to make a $800 or $1000 payment. Not only that but the people that qualify for this plan get a $5000 reduction to their principle if they make there payments on time.

  • Mar 07, 2009 — Things Change

Things happen. It is a part of life. What is important is not what happens but how you react. Take Sarah and I for instance. We have been together for nine years and married for a little over four years. During this time we have faced me getting laid off, Sarah getting really sick, then getting some weird skin thing and then a blood clot. Through all of these things, which happened in the second year we where married, we rolled with the punches. We have been through things in our first two years married that most couples don’t go through. Here is what I have learned:

  • Mar 06, 2009 — Addicted to Facebook: One man's Story

For this I blame Harper. He has tried, since the advent of social networking, to get me involved. I am pretty sure that Friendster was the first one I joined. I would always happily play around for a few weeks and then get bored and move on. I don’t know if it was because the services offered weren’t what I wanted or if it was just that I didn’t care, but I was always able to quit before it became a problem. It always worked out that after a few weeks I thought that they were stupid.

  • Mar 05, 2009 — End of the World

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day making balloons at a housing fair. This was one of those great ideas that universities have where they cram a large number of competitors into a single hall and hope that students stop by. This fair is one that we do every year and I have to say that this year was by far the worst year I have participated in.

  • Mar 04, 2009 — Thanks Internet (insert Thumbs-up here)

Today was a wonderful day. Scratch that yesterday was a wonderful day. Thanks to going back to an old email address I was able to connect with one of my good good good friends from the College of Oceaneering.

  • Mar 03, 2009 — Just Being Honest

I have been reading through some of my past posts on SCUBA diving and I have noticed an alarming trend. I have done my best to scare people by talking about ways in which a person can die underwater. While it is true there are a number of ways that one can become injured or even die while SCUBA diving the instances of this are rare, especially within the recreational diving community. I thought that today I would tell you about why SCUBA diving is so awesome.

  • Mar 02, 2009 — Sharks Need to be Protected

Apex predators are the pinnacle of the food chain. These animals that have no natural predators. These animals do what they please and are responsible for balancing the ecosystem (Kluger 2). White sharks are a prime example of an apex predator. White sharks roam the earth’s oceans eating pretty much anything it wants. Sharks eat seals, tuna fish and any other sea creature they come across.

  • Mar 01, 2009 — Fun and Cheap Marketing

Recently, at work, I was asked to figure out new, cheap means of marketing in this fantastic economy. While marketing has always been a fascination of mine I am a little stressed out about finding cheap viable marketing options. We are currently using craigslist and a few other free marketing websites, but so is everybody else. What I need is a good way to get the word out and that way has to be cheap.

  • Feb 28, 2009 — February 2009: the Month Blogging Happened

It has been a wonderful and fun February. If you haven’t noticed I have blogged everyday and have been loving it. I thought that since it is the end of the month that I would collect my favorite six blog posts of the month. Sort of a month end review. Here are my six favorite posts of the month:

  • Feb 27, 2009 — Oh How I Hate You

You know who you are. I am talking to you Street Fighter IV. I have never been very good at fighting games but I have always enjoyed them quite a bit. I think that most of this stems from Soul Caliber on the Dreamcast. It was the first fighting game that I played a lot and I really liked it. One of my favorite parts of that game was the really long story/quest mode.

  • Feb 26, 2009 — Doing What You Love

Recently I have been reading many different Blogs. Some about being successful in life, some about being successful in business and a few about being happy; almost all of them have the same basic message: Do What You Love.

  • Feb 25, 2009 — My Plan to Become a Superhero

I have always been disappointed with my apparent lack of super powers. What fun is life without the ability to do extraordinary things like teleport or turn invisible. The only ability that I seem to posses it being able to recognize the make and model of cars by the position of their tail and headlights or their shape. For some reason instant car recognition has failed to gain me membership into any of the superhero groups.

  • Feb 24, 2009 — I Just Blogged Myself

I have a lot of friends that blog. I have noticed that, like me, most non-professional bloggers have dry-spells. An example of this is the two or three times I have blogged less then five times in a year. Whenever I find myself having a blogging dry-spell it is because I convince myself that I don’t have time. I have never had a dry-spell because I didn’t have anything to say.

  • Feb 23, 2009 — The Truth About Sharks and Fishing

Sharks are one of the greatest mysteries of the world today. We probably know more about the moon then we do about sharks. This is primarily caused by the fact that as a group sharks are as varied as people are. For instance, the white shark, commonly known as the great white shark, travels thousands of miles every year. A single great white shark can encircle the globe hundreds of times in its lifetime.

  • Feb 22, 2009 — Adventures in Spanish Sitting*

*This post actually includes very little sitting

  • Feb 21, 2009 — Its the Hardest Thing

Few people realize how hard it is to learn how to unicycle. Actually a lot of people probably realize how hard it is to learn, but few appreciate how hard it is. I started learning to unicycle when when I was seventeen. I received a Semcycle 24” Deluxe for Christmas that year. Immeadiatly after receiving the unicycle I started to learn. Or should I say I tried to learn.

  • Feb 20, 2009 — Real Men Cry in the Shower

Recently I was given some news. It wasn’t good or bad or even purple, it was just news. The news was shocking and stressful and everything is ok, but it was proceeded by a week of stress. This led me to spend some quality time in the shower. I find that when I am sad or stress or just feel the need to cry I go in the shower.

  • Feb 19, 2009 — Skip to My Lou

I work around a lot of really sad people. At least that is what it seems to be to me. I tend to spend my days smiling, having a good time and skipping from place to place. You read that correctly, I skip from place to place. I have to say that skipping is my favorite walking alternative.

  • Feb 18, 2009 — Refrigerator Archeology

I realize that with a title like refrigerator archeology this post is already starting to sound disgusting. Be not afraid gentle readers, this post has little to do with nasty moldy food and a lot to do with things thought lost being found.

  • Feb 17, 2009 — Red Ring O' Death

I am probably not the first person to write a post bitching about the red ring of death(RROD) and I certainly won’t be the last. I am currently on my second Xbox360. My first one, as those of you who where at Thanksgiving know, over heats if you try to play games on it.

  • Feb 16, 2009 — The Trouble With Sharks

_This is the first part of the series The Trouble With Sharks. I have included a handy reference page __so you can see where I pulled my information. _

  • Feb 15, 2009 — Faith in Good

Throughout my life I have been happily without faith and religion. I have always been aware of other peoples religion and the varying levels of faith that they have in said religion. As a youngster I was even curious about religion, my mom and I used to go to churches on Sundays and experience the fun that is religion. It even went so far as almost being baptized by a friends mom who didn’t understand why my parents didn’t want to save my soul.

  • Feb 14, 2009 — HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

I am now 28 years old. Go me. Time for presents and cake. Yeah.

  • Feb 13, 2009 — UNBEARABLE Bear

Here is a 5 step guide to making your own stuffed bear, rabbit or whatever. This project is the first part in a bigger project I am trying to finish. What that means to you is that there will be a part two, three and possibly a part four to these instructions.

  • Feb 12, 2009 — Dirty Water Diving

One of my brothers co-workers recently contacted me about doing some SCUBA diving this summer. I am excited as well as a little nervous. It is always nerve wracking to go diving with a new buddy, you don’t know there experience level other then what it says on their certification card.

  • Feb 11, 2009 — You May Not Care

Yesterday was the first night in the incredibly long gaming arc that we are playing. This is an epic adventure that should take our characters from level 1 to level 20 and beyond. Unfortunately for us this adventure has been written for six players and we only have three. This has led to some interesting adjustments to our character in hopes that we will be able to make it through.

  • Feb 10, 2009 — The Ultimate Wish List

Here is a list of things that I want. This is in no particular order and most of these are things that I don’t need, they are just things that I would buy if money was suddenly no object.

  • Feb 09, 2009 — Where is my Morality Scale

I have been playing video games for a little over 10 years now and find that my life suffers from a general lack of video game awesomeness. One of the things that I find that is missing is the morality scale. The best example of this is in Bioware games like Jade Empire or Mass Effect. In these games every conversation and choice has a direct effect on how the world views and acts towards you. Another game that uses this is Fable 2. In Fable 2 your morality is based on two scales: Good/Bad and Pure/Corrupt. I think that is the scale I would prefer.

  • Feb 08, 2009 — Plans for the Next Year

I am going to be 28 years old on February 14th, 2009 and I figured that it was time to set some goals for next year. I realize that I should have done this in the more typical New Years resolution style but I prefer Valentines resolutions. This is a list of things that I would like to get done, started or finished in the next year.

  • Feb 07, 2009 — Mutants and Masterminds: A Review

Recently the gaming group finished up the first arc in Jon’s wonderful mutants and masterminds campaign. I thought that I would take the break in the action as a time to talk about my favorite gaming system. I realize I made a video of this same type of thing but as I have yet to become a true fan of video blogging I figured I would write up a review as well. This review is coming after a longer time playing the game and with a slight break between the gaming and the written review. This is what has stuck with me in the three weeks since we stopped playing.

  • Feb 06, 2009 — Living My Life: Pt 5

That summer semester I took Ethnic Literature and Spanish 1. Ethnic Lit I could take or leave. It was an online class that was run poorly and had a professor that was very hard to communicate with. I went as far as to have a meeting with her to discuss this and according to people who currently have her she is much better at communicating.

  • Feb 05, 2009 — Living My Life: Pt 4

Everything was going fine until my work buddy went on vacation. About two days after he had gone on vacation I showed up to work, walked into the office and went and asked what I was to do that day.

  • Feb 04, 2009 — Living My Life: Pt 3

From Cooperheat I found a job that seemed like a better fit. I was an cashier/birthday host at a Fort Fun in Fort Collins. I was paid right around minimum wage and get to use my entertainment skills for a job. I really liked the job but only making $5.25/hour sucked.

  • Feb 03, 2009 — Living My Life: Pt 2

After high school I did what everyone is supposed to do after high school, I went to college. By went to college I mean that I signed up for classes, attended some of them and met a lot of people. I thrived in the social circles and then about a quarter of the the way through a met someone that owned a SEGA Dreamcast. School was over.

  • Feb 02, 2009 — Living My Life

Every now and again the blogging bug bites me. It has apparently done that recently as I feel the need to blog with all of my spare time. Apparently this has been enjoyable to the people that read my blog, which makes me glad, and I have also been enjoying it.

  • Feb 01, 2009 — Well On My Way

This second semester of school has started off with a rush, a bang and then a lot of let down. My intro to PC applications class is boring. My history class is boring. The only class that is pulling it’s own weight is Spanish 2. I will give you a brief run down of what is awesome and what is craptastic about my classes

  • Jan 31, 2009 — Fable Musings

I don’t really know if these will actually be musings, mostly because I am not entirely certain that I know what a musing is. Fable II is awesome. Ridiculously so. I am enjoying playing this game more then any other game this year and possibly last year. This of course comes with a condition. I am comparing this only to other sandbox or role-playing games.

  • Jan 30, 2009 — I Need More Dialogue Trees

I have played quite a few video games made by Bioware. They are the makers of such fun games as: Mass Effect, Jade Empire, some Sonic the Hedgehog game I can’t remember the title of but is really fun and the original Knights of the Old Republic game. Their games always focus on the balance between good and evil and your actions directly effect how people perceive you in the world.

  • Jan 29, 2009 — 7 Things

Harper, as usual, has decided to involve me in all things Internet. Including this seven things game. I have a suspicion that I am the person that he is most likely to send things like this to. The real problem I am having is coming up with seven people to send it to so that the chain continues.

  • Jan 09, 2009 — Office Depot Suckers

  • Jan 09, 2009 — I just claimed my blog on Viralogy.com - #15

    I just claimed my blog on Viralogy.com - #15

  • Jan 07, 2009 — The Voting is Over

With all of two votes, one of them mine, I have called the voting. The winner is… THE BLUE CINCTOPUS. Not one of the initial options there was a huge write in campaign that led to his victory. Let’s go down to the winner for his victory speech.

  • Jan 06, 2009 — New Years Resolution

  • Jan 05, 2009 — Decisions Decisions

preview1 Since I am trying to be a good little video blogger and do the proper branding to my player I am asking for your help. I have created a few different designs for my player. I think my favorite is the BunnyLupe one. The carrot is a close second and the robot is the third one. Also please let me know if you like the dark player or the light player better. Thanks

  • Dec 31, 2008 — Day after

    Day after gaming.

  • Dec 30, 2008 — After Class

    Need to add a soundtrack

  • Dec 30, 2008 — Mutants and Masterminds

#4 Soon I will have a coherent method of doing this rather then just saying whatever I want when I want. Or not

  • Dec 30, 2008 — Hopefully fixed the angle problem

Post # 3 from my flip Video Machine. Thanks Harper.

  • Dec 30, 2008 — Day One

Here it is Day One of the video blog. Stupid camera being all sideways. I will fix this for the next one.

  • Dec 30, 2008 — Reno is Hungry -test

Here is a test video. More actual blogs to come. This viddler business is actually pretty easy to use, once you figure it out.
    Thanks viddler!

  • Dec 29, 2008 — Harper is so Lame

Apparently my brother has lost his damn mind. Most people make New Years resolutions that can only be completed or failed by themselves. My brother has decided that his resolution is that I become a video blogger. Considering how often I update this here blog, this seems like poor planning. Since he has sent me ‘stuff’ that I need to video blog I shall play along, at least for a while.I have been using viddler to set up my video business and have made my fancy player badge through the magic of viddler and thought that I would share it with everyone that reads my blog. Yes, even you mom. This is not a video, so don’t be fooled. On second thought, please be fooled. I will get a camera set up soon and you will be subject to ramblings of a video nature instead of my typical I did this, went here, took a nap, punch babies, etc. that normally end up here.

  • Nov 11, 2008 — Weeks in Review

I missed you guys, really I mean it, I missed you guys. Well at least some of you, like you, standing in the corner. Here is what has been going on. Last time we met I spoke about my love/hate problem with IKEA. Well we got a call from the delivery service not long after I posted last and needless to say are bed arrived and is put together and is awesome. The combination of new bed, feather top for our bed, Jesus blanket and being tired after work/school mean that I have been sleeping really good.

  • Oct 06, 2008 — Oh Ikea You Tease

  • Sep 17, 2008 — First 21 Days of School

I might have gotten busy with school and forgot about this blog and all of the important stuff I wanted to impart on the rest of you newly/currently school bound folk. Here is a list of things I learned about going back to school to fill in the first 21 days of school.

  • Aug 27, 2008 — First Day of School

Well it is over. The first day of school has come and gone. My brain is dead, or at least it was dead last night. I was a super good kid and got all of my homework done right after class. So much reading. Here is a quick breakdown of what went down yesterday.

  • Aug 26, 2008 — Financial Aid: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I am able to go back to school because Sarah has finish school and got a job teaching at a high school. It turns out that a first year teacher makes about the same as a property manager. This means that since we were able to get by on my salary and the money Sarah was able to bring in on a part time basis while she was in school. We can get by on her salary and me having a part time job. Nice. Except school still costs a bundle of money each semester. This means financial aid and the headaches associated with the whole process.

  • Aug 26, 2008 — Back to School, Back to School

I have started back to school again. For those of you who donâa‚¬a„¢t know I have tried school a bundle of times. I started out, like most kids, right after high school. I was going to go to Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. For some reason I cannot remember at this time I didnâa‚¬a„¢t end up going there. I think I didnâa‚¬a„¢t know what I wanted to do in college and so I didnâa‚¬a„¢t want to move away from my friends and family. I really did know what I wanted to do; it just wasnâa‚¬a„¢t a major at any college I could find. I wanted to be a clown.

  • Jul 09, 2008 — Hello World

It has been a crazy couple of weeks, and by a couple of weeks I mean a month and a half. This summer, if you can call it that, has been full of ups, downs and a bunch of family crap. My father decided to get sick, and not just the usual sick but crazy sick. He was out of work for about 6 weeks two of which where spent in the hospital. During that time I was on work duty/on-call at the hospital duty and I don’t really feel as if I have recovered from it yet.

  • May 22, 2008 — I Have Become a Biker

Not one of those super bad ass Harley riding bikers or even one of those less bad ass super bike riding bikers, no I have become a rider of bicycles kind of biker. It all started about three weeks ago when Sarah and I traded our old cruiser bikes and some cash in for the more modern urban bikes. The idea was to get into shape, preferably away from the mostly circular shape we where approaching and into more chiseled and hot shapes that people seem to find so awesome. What happened was pretty simple. We really enjoy riding our bikes. It has almost reached the point of being ridiculous. We actually consider riding our bikes before we consider taking a car if our destination is in Greeley and we could be home by dark. We are becoming those people. It started with simple trips to the grocery store, carrying backpacks full of food home. Then we where riding to blockbuster to get movies or to get ice cream, last weekend we went crazy. We rode our bikes to the bicycle store, purchased and installed a bike rack to my bike, rode to Lowes, bought a bundle of flowers and headed home.

  • May 07, 2008 — I Warned You

I was hanging out on the Internet and I came across this article. Dolphins, long the protectors of the human race in the sea, have been targeted by the black and white devilfish. I am of course referring to the Orca or more appropriately named Killer Whale. As I have written numerous times in the past, Orcas are not to be trusted. They have a streak of mean that is bypassed only by Hitler and possibly a vengeful god. They are the bullies and mass murderers of the sea. It is not enough to be able to eat anything you want, they have to torture and release baby seals, drown blue whales and of course capture the imagination of millions of visitors to Sea World every year.

  • Apr 24, 2008 — I've Been Doing Some Thinking

And I figured out why I like CCG and what was the gateway game to get me started. Most CCG (collectible card games) take place in a fixed world. In the World of Warcraft that world is the world of Warcraft…duh. But it adds to that world something better then any RPG (meaning table top style not PC or LARP style) you don’t have to dedicate so much time to set up. Most of the games have a starter set that allows you to jump right in and play. This means that You don’t have to understand the deck building mechanics you just have to get the gist of the game rules and fumble along through a few games to get a feel for what you like. Then if you want you can start playing around with deck building. I for one enjoy the deck building portion of the game. I find a new hero and I want to build a deck around that hero.

  • Apr 22, 2008 — Best Friday Night Ever and Other Awesome Stuff

Well maybe not everMy Booster Packs, but it was a doozy. I finally took a weekend off of the balloon making to have a relaxing weekend of not making balloons for tips. It was a definite hit in the ol’ pocketbook but I think the relaxation was worth it. Plus Sarah and I finally where able to clean our house from top to bottom. But what made Friday night especially awesome is that John and I had ordered a box of booster decks for the World of Warcraft card game and it had arrived the previous night, for those of you paying attention that would be Thursday night. As you can see we ordered from the Dark Portal set and this is my half of the cards in the picture. John not only brought over a bundle of cards for me but he also bought me Taco Bell for dinner, which was delicious and tasty and only made my stomach a little sad. We quickly ate dinner and I opened my cards, what I found was a pretty good variety of standard cards and then in my last pack awesome happened. I finally have the cards necessary to make my priest hero competitive. I already have a hunter hero who pretty much owns the night, I have been trying to use my priest but he lacked abilities. I now have enough abilities to bring the noise as a priest against John’s druid. We shall see.

  • Apr 07, 2008 — WOW... I have a problem

Recently I have been doing something that I am not proud of. It isn’t something that is in itself bad, it just isn’t something that a lot of people talk about. The real problem is that I like it, a lot. It is something that my friend Lars showed me and I have been doing it ever since. I have to buy more all the time and Lars and I sit around and use it regardless of what our spouses or significant others are doing. It is ridiculous. I had thought that I could stop and then I saw this. I am not strong enough to withstand the pull of a contest where the prize is World of Warcraft Collectible Card Game Cards. Why penny arcade, why?

  • Apr 03, 2008 — Oh Google Calendar Sync, Your Such a Tease?

Recently at work, at the suggestion of my computer genius brother, we switched to Google Apps. Overall the switch has been easy-ish. One of the main reasons for the switch is that we have been getting a lot of spam. And when I say a lot of spam, I mean a ridiculous amount of spam. Part of the problem is that most of the people who work at my work have very mundane names. I get very few spam messages personally, Dylan being an uncommon name and all, but steve, john, alice, susan, daniel and christina are all fairly common names and thus seem to get a majority of the spam.

So its been a little while since I have brought the new noise with some new Awesome Guys. So here are three new ones with a couple more to come in the next few days.

  • Mar 18, 2008 — OMG SSBB TEH EPIC LULZ!!1!

Last Saturday night I procured for myself a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Well I actually pre-ordered it on Saturday and picked it up on Sunday. It is a couple bundles worth of joy. There are a bunch of levels, a lot of characters to play with and it is very easy to pick up and play. My friend Jon and I played quite a few hours on Sunday and have continued to enjoy smash each other off of the levels.

  • Mar 17, 2008 — Operation: Make the Compartment Awesome

Sarah and I, as I may have mentioned previously, have started Operation: Make the Compartment Awesome. The overall plan is to paint, decorate and wood floorerize our condo. We picked out floors about two weeks ago and started painting. After a color choice fiasco we picked a good color and got to painting. Two of out slaves friends came over and helped us paint and it took a lot less time then we anticipated and it looks very nice. It is the color molten peanut butter, which makes you hungry especially when it is combined with out chocolate room. Basically you can’t leave our house without craving a Reese’s peanut butter cup.

  • Mar 13, 2008 — Chip on my shoulder

I am thinking about ordering something different for giveaways while entertaining. The most fun thing that I have found are buffalo chips:

  • Mar 05, 2008 — So Dylan, What Have You Been Up To?

First off, thanks for asking. I have been up to quite a bit lately. As I mentioned in a very short previous post my tooth, ass and life where making me mad for very different reasons. Since writing that post I have been able to figure out each one and everything is going better.

  • Feb 12, 2008 — Rough WeeK

So it is my birthday week. I will be 27 on Valentines day…WooHoo…Or something like that.

  • Feb 06, 2008 — I Love Myself an Ice Cream Loving Bunny

Coniglietto, or Coni for short, grew up in France. He spent most of his childhood running around the farms and what not in rural France. He came from a long line of Green Rabbits and was quite proud of his family heritage. Some of his great Granduncles had been seen running through the gardens of Louis the XIV Versailles.

  • Jan 31, 2008 — Thaddeus P. Hare

One of the best known bunny scholars is none other then Dr. Thaddeus P. Hare. At a young age Thad noticed that he was different then the other bunnies, smarter, and as he thought, better then all of the other bunnies.

  • Jan 25, 2008 — Et Tu Brutus

If you have ever been to a jazz club you have probably seen this Hip-Cat roaming around. He dances and dances, wooing the ladies and charming the guys. He never fights or bad mouths anyone, he just spends his time looking cool. Of course it wasn’t always like that…

  • Jan 21, 2008 — Two Sold, Three More Listed

I was lucky enough to sell two of my Awesome Guys this weekend. It was quite exciting and nice to finally sell something. I just need to keep this momentum going and sell many many more. One of the creatures is going to Chicago and one is headed to Taiwan. Awesome. So this is a fond farewell to Boneheaded Eustace

  • Jan 10, 2008 — My Etsy Shoppe and the Stories I Tell

Harper, my wonderful and helpful brother, recently suggested that I make a story for all of the creatures I am trying to sell on Etsy. Well I did just that. I wrote wonderful little stories for all of my little creatures. I figured I would share them with the world via my blog and I hope you enjoy them.

I have finally started using Etsy a lot. Well not a lot but more then I have. The only thing that makes me sad is that when I started my account my username was/is awesomeguy. That makes my store awesomeguy’s store. LAME. Anyway visit me at awesomeguy.etsy.com. I am making and try to sell sock creatures. They are awesome. If you would like to send me your old socks. Seriously I need them. For every ten pairs you send me I will send you a sock creature.

and fun. So many people said so many hateful things about this game:

  • Dec 10, 2007 — Sick of being sick

I was sick for most of last week. It was super duper lame. The only nice part was that Sarah was also sick so we got to have a sick kid vacation with each other. We both sat around looking hot; sniffling, coughing and feeling like shit. It ruled. We decided that next time we where going to have a vacation where we are not sick. It will be awesome.

  • Nov 28, 2007 — Well Shit

I had decided that I would take a break from writing on dylanreed.org and focus on growing The Usable Clown. That has failed. I haven’t had time to write for The Usable Clown and I have, of course, thought of things that I would like to write on dylanreed.org. Stupid head not doing what it is supposed to.

  • Nov 26, 2007 — Funny Funny Fun Stuff

    1. I am growing facial hair for the first time. It is pretty hilarious and also a little bit itchy. I am hoping to have some fancy facial hair for our trip to Japan.
    2. I have started to make little felt creatures and am trying to sell them on etsy. I hope to become sucessful at this and even if I am not they are fun to build. Any good ideas on what sorts of creatures need to be made let me know.
    3. I am loving our new TV. It is huge, so huge that it dosen’t fit where it is supposed to. I think that my dad and I can fix that.
    4. I am loving Super Mario Galaxy. It is very well made and makes all other wii games less fun to play because I cannot fly through space around objects.
    5. Sarah and I are playing Super Mario World. It is so much fun and is as enjoyable as Galaxy. We did have to break down and buy a classic controller since Nintendo mapped the controls to the Wavebird like a retarded monkey having sex with a doorknob.
    6. I just rented Mass Effect, so I want to go home and play it. Stupid work getting in the way of playing games.

  • Nov 16, 2007 — dylanreed.org Hiatus

I am going to pause any and all writing on dylanreed.org other then personal updates for an indefinite time. This is so I can focus on writing The Usable Clown, both the website and an eBook. So browse around, read old posts and know that sometime in the future I will be back.

  • Nov 06, 2007 — Its funny how searches work

So for the past week or so I have been looking for images done by Robert ParkeHarrison for Sarah PTE review. The PTE review is something that Sarah has to do in order to finish getting her teaching liscense. I was using google image search to try and find high quality images of a few artists for Sarah’s power point presentation. I had no luck… at all. Sarah ended up scanning all of the images she needs except for Robert ParkeHarrison, as the book we had is to big too fit our scanner. I even went so far as to contact the artist to ask for any scans that they had of the images. They wouldn’t release them though they did give us permission to scan them.

  • Nov 03, 2007 — Subscribe now and receive free gift

That isn’t entirely true but its close. I have been updating The Usable Clown pretty steady for about two months now and I am starting to reap the benefits. It turns out that if you offer content about a subject that isn’t very well covered on the Internet people want to know about it.

  • Nov 02, 2007 — Secretly Excited but Then Disappointed

I was excited when I first learned about the phenomenon show. I thought “What a great way to bring magic to the people.” Boy was I wrong. Part of the problem could be that I have spent the past year or so studying magic and the first trick on the show is one that I know how to do, sure he added a little twist but come on. I mean where does he get his tricks, Ellusionist. I am not saying that the first magician isn’t cool I just think that he needs to come up with something new and exciting to be a phenomenon.

  • Nov 01, 2007 — How Big is the Effect? Massive

Mass Effect has all of the marks of an awesome game. The combat looks sick, the character creation is in-depth, it is almost a role playing game and Seth Green does one of the voices.

  • Oct 29, 2007 — Why November, Why?

As you may or may not know a lot of really awesome video games are coming out in the next month. Not only is there going to be a lot of good games coming out but they all come out at about the same time. In fact they all come out in the first two weeks-ish of November.

  • Oct 22, 2007 — This is why I want to Learn Ventriloquism

This is Jeff Dunham, he is damn hilarious. I would say that he is quite good and has a lot of really good characters. Man oh man.

  • Oct 20, 2007 — Clown in search of a Dummy

I have always been secretly, or not so secretly, amazed by ventriloquism. I think that it is amazing when people are able to bring puppets to life and how people will accept them as living objects. Since I have had relatively good luck learning the magic I have decided it is time to learn how to speak without speaking. As I have been learning and talking with people online I have discovered that a big part of ventriloquism is bringing the creature to life. Some of the greatest ventriloquist have moved their mouths while performing and some of the most famous puppets (Kermit the Frog) have been on national TV being performed by someone with no ventriloquist talent.

  • Oct 15, 2007 — Good God Mario is so cool.

I have been following Super Mario Galaxy online since I first thought about how cool the Wii is. It comes out in about a month and I am afraid that I am going to be disappointed by this game. Not because it isn’t going to be awesome but because it is starting to believe its own hype.

It is a skateboarding videogame problem. For some reason I love to play skateboarding on video games. I have little or no interest in actual skateboarding, though I do think people who do skateboard well are pretty cool. The problem is that there are two new skateboarding games coming out and I am still up in the air as to which one to get. I have played the demo of both of them and here is what I think:

  • Aug 24, 2007 — Clowning is so hard

I am currently working on developing a Tramp Clown Character, and it is a real pain in the ass. I think this is because for the first time I am attempting to have a really well defined character. Normally, like a lot of clowns, my clown character is just an offshoot of my personality; unlike a lot of other clowns, my clown character is more mellow and shy then me normally.

  • Aug 22, 2007 — Blast from the past

I have two words for everyone: Lemonade Stand. Only the best lemonade selling simulation ever. I am pretty sure Harper and I played it on the old Apple 2c, man it was awesome. I thought of this the other day as I was driving around trying to figure out how to be rich. I remembered how much fun that game was and how it taught us math as well as supply and demand. I got to thinking, I wonder if someone has recreated it online. A few clicks on the Internet later and poof, I had the new and improved Lemonade Stand.

  • Aug 21, 2007 — I heart Bioshock

Last night I finally finished downloading the Bioshock demo and was pleasantly surprised. Its not that I didn’t think that I would enjoy the game, the whole concept speaks to me, its just that I don’t usually like survival horror games and that seemed to be the genre that best fit the videos and what not I saw of Bioshock.

This weekend we went over to some friends of Sarah’s mom and had dinner. Jim (one of the friends) happens to be a lock smith and somehow we got talking about breaking into houses. I don’t know how the conversation got there but it did. That got me thinking about a time I had had to break into a house when I was younger.

  • Aug 08, 2007 — Frog Car Up in Here

Recently I received a new work car. It is a 2002 ford focus zx3 with a manual transmission. Basically a lot of fun to drive. The only problem was its total lack of Property Technica signage. In order to remedy this I went to the local signs first and had them put some signs on it. Here are the before:

  • Aug 03, 2007 — WELCOME TO DYLANREED.ORG!!!!!!!!!!

^This is how I felt the entire time I watched “300”.^ Or at least when it wasn’t in slow motion. I am all for making a beautiful movie about an incredibly violent time. Go for it, right on. However, stop the overacting and yelling. I don’t think this was the worst movie I have seen(mostly because I have seen “the Protector”) but I felt that they looked in the nerd handbook on how to make movie. Start with a story, add boobs (add slow motion boobs for extra points), add yelling and a bottomless pit(what do dead bodies do to you water supply?) and a bunch of weird creatures.

First: Learn some new tricks. I am looking at learning some new magic tricks as well as perfect some of the ones I have had for a while. I am talking to you torn.

Second: Start planning a school assemby show. This is something I have wanted to do for a while and it will be a great thing to work on for the next year since it doesn’t cost anything to plan a show. Possible themes are: history of clowning, history of juggling, or maybe just something entertaining about if at first you don’t succeed try try again. We shall see.

  • Jul 26, 2007 — Kind of Makes Me Sad

I used to frequent a certain magic website. I really enjoyed their movies, equipment and their no nonsense method of teaching. Since I have been busy lately I haven’t visited in a while. When I finally did I noticed that the site had been redesigned to look really really flashy and cool. This is nice, and it works fine, but the content hasn’t changed that much.

  • Jul 26, 2007 — So I did it

  • Jul 23, 2007 — Freaking out like a crazy person

I took the afternoon off today to study. I think that while it was a good plan to take it off to study it is causing me to stress about the test. I feel really confident about taking this test since I did so good on the class and all of the exam prep stuff. In fact I didn’t actually study until I was done with exam prep and had gotten the go ahead to take the test.

  • Jul 21, 2007 — I love it when nerds make something good for all of human kind

There are a lot of sites and services that serve no real purpose to the world. They are sites that lead to a lot of time wasting and a general sense of eh. I am of course talking about online games and places that let you create things you can’t afford online so you can dream of them.

  • Jul 16, 2007 — Harry-est Potter ever

As many others have mentioned, Harry Potter 7 comes out this weekend. This is a sad day for me, since I look forward so much to these books coming out and am wondering what I am going to wait for now.

  • Jul 14, 2007 — I am not really complaining

But what has been going on the past couple of days, specifically the last seven days. I have been pretty lax on updates and yet I find my adsense getting more action then the village bicycle. In the past seven days I have made $7.02. Which is awesome, I feel like I am being rewarded for not posting so that is good.

  • Jul 13, 2007 — Life as it is, was and shall be

  • Jun 30, 2007 — Last Week, up in here

Last week I spent the week in real estate school and have overall had a pretty good time. I learned a lot or at least got a lot of crap crammed into my brain. I received a 96% on my midterm and a 94% on the final for the Law and Practices class.

  • Jun 27, 2007 — Day One: Afternoon through Day Three:Morning

  • Jun 25, 2007 — Day One: Morning

Arrived at school, on time and ready to rock. Placed lunch in trunk of car (bad choice, more on that later) and headed in to find classroom.

  • Jun 22, 2007 — Now for something completely different

  • Jun 13, 2007 — It is killing me inside

I have recently been doing some blog soul searching and decided that maybe I don’t need ads. I am conflicted because in order to get my first check from Google adsense I need to amass $100 in ad clicks. I am at $94.56 or something like that. The problem is that, unlike cool blogs, I make about $.40 to $1.00 a week. This means that I either have to say good bye to that money or keep the ads until such a time as I reach $100 and then kill them.

This is the funniest online comic I have found. I think that since I am basically Ethan in these comic it makes me quite happy.

  • Jun 12, 2007 — My New Car

Recently at work I got a new vehicle. It is a 2002 Ford Focus ZX3. It has just over 70,000 miles, though most of those where spent being towed behind a motor home. Because of that it has some pretty funny graphics on the side, probably to match the motor home. It is in really good shape and is fun to drive since it has a stick shift. The other fun thing is that it is a car that is represented in Forza 2 so I can have fun designing paint jobs for a car I actually drive. I have spent probably an hour working on the Property Technica Frog to put on the hood as well as getting the placement of both the AMPS and Property Technica logos. I have taken some pictures of them and will post them once they pop up on the Forza website.

  • Jun 11, 2007 — Adopt a Killer Whale.....No Thank You

Continuing on my quest to educate people of the dangers of Killer Whales, I was doing my weekly search for Killer Whale stories and I found a place where you can adopt a killer whale. On the surface this seems like a good Idea, until you realize that this undisguised killer of small and cute sea mammals, is at the top of its food chain. So, if it needs saved then it is its own fault.

  • Jun 11, 2007 — New Laptop plans

As I have mentioned before Sarah and I have two old laptops that when added together equal maybe one working laptop. I recently, in Popular Science, read about damn small Linux and some interesting projects people have done with it and old laptops. This got me thinking about a couple of ideas.

This last weekend Sarah and I painted the crap out of an old dresser that Sarah had. It started off an interesting turquoise and is now a butter yellow with nice bold colored drawers. If I was cool I would have pictures but I am not so you will all have to wait. We started painting on Friday night and painted about 3-4 coats of paint.

  • May 27, 2007 — Credit cards are the new devil

As Sarah and I have been trying to take care of our debt we have realized two things.

  • May 26, 2007 — So I got in a fight with Harper

Actually it was more of a war. He introduced a couple of us to this great game and we have been playing for about a week now. It is quite a bit of fun and I am probably addicted. I need to invite some friends of mine to play, so if you like to do battle and you want to play, let me know.

  • May 25, 2007 — Ad placement

I finally think my site is working well with adsense. I am still not getting rich off of the ads but I make a steady $1-2 a week. What I was failing to do was placing the ads far enough up on the sidebar that they where visible from the moment you get on the site.

  • May 24, 2007 — Forza 2 hear I come

I finally got around to calling the game guy to preorder Forza 2. I am quite happy because I was able to get rid of a bunch of games that I no longer play, and not have to pay anything out of pocket for forza 2. Awesome.

  • May 24, 2007 — Maybe Direct Tv should figure this out

Today I canceled our Direct TV service. Not because we where unhappy with it, just because we wanted to save money. So I end up talking to their cancellation specialist and he tried very hard to convince me that I can afford direct TV. The first option was lowering the price by $10 a month for a year. Which I though was a very nice offer. I politely declined and he then said that we could get 45 channels for only $29.99 a month. I was intrigued but stayed strong and succeeded in canceling the service.

  • May 22, 2007 — Ultimate Fantasy Book

I have decided to put down my criteria for the ultimate fantasy book down in writing and see if anyone knows of any books that fit the criteria. I will start with races.

  • May 21, 2007 — The car I want is smarter then the car you want

This is the car that I want to get. It is a smart car and they are coming to America in 2008. Awesome! I figure that one of these cost as much as a nice motorcycle and would be more comfprtable to travel in. So Sarah and I can just get one of these. I also think that as a clown it would be the ultimate vehicle. I know just need to make enough money clowning to justify getting one of these.

  • May 18, 2007 — Harper actually has remorse

So today I saw this on my twitter:

  • May 18, 2007 — I am a super poster

A couple months ago I started really trying to post more often on my blog. This we started mostly by the fact that I would post about once a week for three weeks and then disappear for about a month or two. I got to reading a bunch of blogs on making money while blogging and I realized that I was never going to reach the magic adsense money mark if I didn’t retain readers. So I started a three pronged blog attack.

  • May 17, 2007 — We're gonna get wood

floors. Sarah and I figured out somethings and are going to start saving to put wood floors down in our condo. We figure we need to save for four to six months in order to be able to put them in the whole house. During the months of saving we will be planning and trying to decide what kind of wood and finish that we want.

  • May 16, 2007 — New API entertainment site

About a week or so ago I transformed clownsareawesome.com site into the API entertainment site. I spent a couple hours putting it all together and was fairly happy with the result. I am a little disappointed in the look of the menu graphics but figured I could smooth those as time went on.

  • May 15, 2007 — Why people, why?

Today has been quite frustrating. I have spent most of the day going around doing showings for people who don’t show up. I assume that most people when they make an appointment plan on going to it. That is of course where I go wrong.
Over half of my showings today have been no shows. This is even after the showees have been called the day before.
Two of these showees have called insisting that they where at the property and that I am a liar and wasn’t ever at the property. needless to say this makes me very angry. I may be a lot of things but I am not a liar very often and I only lie about presents and secret plans.
So please if you are looking for a new apartment please show up for your appointments.

  • May 15, 2007 — Live Ship Traders

I am just finishing up the Live Ships traders series by Robin Hobb. Overall I have found these books to be quite enjoyable though very frustrating at times. The frustrating has nothing to do with the writing or any technical aspect of the books, it had more to do with the story and how Robin Hobb beats her characters down before allowing them to realize their potential.

  • May 13, 2007 — I am a really really bad race car driver

I recently downloaded the Forza 2 demo for my XBOX and I am really bad at it. This is due to two factors:

  • May 11, 2007 — Project ate

I recently played a lot of Tony Hawk Project 8 on my 360. It was typical Tony Hawk game and I enjoyed it as I enjoy all the Tony Hawk games. I think that the graphics where good and the variety of activities was enjoyable.

  • May 11, 2007 — Tecmo Bowl up in here

I just found out that they are making a new Tecmo Bowl. I hope I am not the only one who enjoyed the original NES Tecmo Bowl. Hopefully this game is just what its predecessor was. An easy to play, easy to enjoy game for anyone. I also hope that the diagonal running trick that I vaguely remember works on the new as it did on the old.

  • May 11, 2007 — Update: Reno's Teeth

Update: Reno had his teeth removed and is doing great. He was a little out of it last night but was back to his piggish self early this morning. He had 16 teeth pulled and has 14 left. The amazing thing is that it hasn’t affected his appetite at all, he still steals all of the other cats food.

  • May 09, 2007 — Getting the dive set up

After my adventures in the pond I got to thinking about how much I would love to do more work underwater. I would really like it if more of my work led my underwater, not only because there is more money in working underwater but because I really enjoy working underwater.

  • May 08, 2007 — Cheap Cheap went the card bird

Lately I have been trying to relaunch API entertainment as a highly visible entertainment company. First order of business is a website and a new logo. Check and check. Then I started looking for a place to get business cards. After many a fruitless search both online and in the real world I had yet to find a solution.

  • May 07, 2007 — Diving the day away

Last Monday I had the wonderful oppertunity to dive at work. One of the Associaitons we manage has a retention pond that they use for irrigation water. In the pond there are three filters that are supposed to be self cleaning. I was to go into the water and remove the filters so that they could be inspected and possibly cleaned.

  • May 06, 2007 — Be steel my red heart

I rented Red Steel for the wii and found it to be as I expected after reading the reviews. It was a good first entry into a Wii shooter but it suffered from quite a few control issues.

  • May 02, 2007 — Amazon WTF moment

Today I was looking online at racing wheels for the Xbox 360. I traversed the usual game sites and came across the Microsoft brand Wireless Racing Wheel. The wheel looks pretty cool, so I headed over to Amazon.com to get the good price. I searched for Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel on the homepage and got a whole slew of results. Including these two: 1 2. The first one is sold by another company through Amazon and is almost $80 more expensive. This confuses me. How can this ASUPERSHOP actually make money selling on Amazon. Not only is it more expensive for the same product, it ships in 6-10 business days instead of amazons 1-3 days. In fact I could by the Wheel and Forza Motorsports 2 from Amazon for less then just the cost of the wheel. That seems wrong…just wrong. And also stupid.

  • Apr 23, 2007 — Reno's Ruff Weekend or Our Cats Dental Woes

On Saturday morning Sarah and I noticed that our little ginger cat was drooling. A whole lot. Basically it looked like he had to really long fangs made out of drool. I tried to take pictures but Sarah wouldn’t let me since Reno does spend his days on the Internet and we don’t want him stumbling onto embarrassing pictures of him self on the website. I agree with that, though a part of me wishes I could share the humor of a drooling cat with everyone.

  • Apr 23, 2007 — I need the time to do something like this

    To much time

  • Apr 19, 2007 — Wii-tarded

I got SSX: Blur from game fly the other day. All in all I have found it to be a fun if not randomly annoying. When I first received it I put it right in and played the free mode. I had such a hard time controlling my skier that I was immediately put off by the control scheme.

  • Apr 17, 2007 — What is so great about a white shark

Sarah, my wife, has an unnatural fear of sharks. She is afraid to get into swimming pools and other non shark infested waters even if there are other people in the same body of water. I find this, as a diver and lover of all things deadly underwater, to be a little funny and a little sad.

  • Apr 16, 2007 — Skip to my Lou

Today I stopped briefly at the Pottery Studio to visit Sarah, while I was there I got to see her vases that she has been working on for the past couple weeks. They look very nice but since they are not glazed yet they don’t necessarily look pretty yet.

  • Apr 15, 2007 — Jack of all trades

I have found that I am really just ok at a lot of skills. This has worked to my advantage in a lot of areas in my life and hasn’t been very detrimental to my life. I think that what I need is the ability to apply my knowledge in a way that will get me a degree that I can apply to my real life. Here is a breakdown of my skills:

  • Apr 13, 2007 — In window chat help

I recently ordered Sarah a new phone from Verizon Wireless and overall it was a great experience. What I found frustrating was the in window chat. My first experience with it was quite good, they where able to help me select a phone and it expedited the process considerably. My only complaint was that they don’t seem to have the ability to send links to x model of phone over the chat.

  • Apr 13, 2007 — Land Speed Record

Yesterday I was helping my dad pick up some new equipment for the tractor. By help I mean that I had to drive it from point A to point B (about 4 mles) to pick up a new attachement. SO I hopped on the John Deere and headed out. I thought that it was going quite slow, but since it was a tractor and not a race car I was ok with that. When I got about 1000’ from my destination, I saw my dad walking towards me so I slowed and stopped next to him.

  • Apr 11, 2007 — David Eddings is a good time

I was at my parentâa‚¬a„¢s house the other day when I stumbled across one of my favorite series of fantasy books. It is the Belgariad by David and Leigh Eddings. These are books that I borrowed from a friend in about 6th or 7th grade and had a hard time getting into. Then He moved away and I never got him his books back (because I am a bad friend). I finally read them in 8th grade and found them to be quite good.

  • Apr 10, 2007 — Real Estate is so hot right now

I was cruising the internet and came across this article about a guy who has claimed ownership of the moon and all of the planets. This wasn’t the first I had heard about this however. A couple of years ago my smart ass brother and his friends read about this guy and so they staked a claim on the sun. They are now the owners of the ultimate energy source in the solar system and are selling stakes in that energy source.

  • Apr 09, 2007 — Craigslist to the rescue

One of my office people gave her two weeks notice last Tuesday and so once again I am having to hire another office person for that position. Unfortunately there are no more siblings of threadless to hire so we are going to have to do the old fashion way.

  • Apr 09, 2007 — Easter weekend

This easter weekend was nice. We had Liz and John over on Friday for potato soup, Wii and dying easter eggs. It was quite a good time. John and I played video games while I was making dinner and Sarah read. Once Liz arrived we but in the Labyrinth and ate. After eating we dyed eggs while the movie finished.

  • Apr 05, 2007 — Wizards and Warriors

So recently I accidentally rediscovered my fondness for table top RPG. In doing so I wondered over to Wizards of the Coast, the self proclaimed leader in hobby gaming. That is all well and good, however their website is awkward and confusing. This is mostly because their online store is cluttered and confusing.

  • Apr 05, 2007 — New Wordpress themes

Harper changed his theme to a very simple them, one without graphics and a pretty bland color scheme. I like it but I feel that since I know him as my brother, he needs to add a little more pizzazz to make it fit hi personality. Maybe even just add one color besides gray and link blue.

  • Apr 03, 2007 — Killer Whales(Orcas) Revisited

I have written twice before about Killer Whales and I wanted to revisit the topic to show the world how these wonderful creatures are the most evil creatures in the oceans.

  • Apr 03, 2007 — Principal admits throwing excrement

WTF. So I thought the second one of my first post of the day was bad. I mean exposing yourself over the Internet and getting a way with is pretty bad. However this one is much funnier and also much more of a WTF. So you got mad at a kid, don’t throw poop, that is just bad form.

  • Apr 03, 2007 — Year of the Dog

I think this movie looks funny, maybe a little sad, but funny

  • Apr 03, 2007 — Two WTF moments today

I was perusing my Newsreader to day and two stories caught my eye. The first and by far more disturbing, I think, was Cannibalism in China acceptable if for Health. The headline is enough to get my attention and I considered making it the title of this post since I figured it would do the same for others that think cannibalism is funny. I was reading the article and was slightly grossed out and saddened. It made me a little angry that somewhere in the world human life is so trivial that peoples children are missing and when they are potentially found two to three to a bag no one steps forward to claim them because they are girls. WTF. Makes me want to adopt a Chinese baby. I would possibly saving them from a fate worse then death-Dinner.

  • Apr 02, 2007 — Digital Picture Frame

I have an old Dell Inspiron notebook that I am thinking about turning into a digital picture frame. I think that it would be a fun project and since it is kind of toast anyway it might work.

  • Apr 02, 2007 — Getting my shop on

So recently I ventured into the world of Internet business. Since lately I have been sewing a lot I figured I might as well as sell my products online. So, with a little help from my brother I started a shop on shopify. It is a pretty good interface that allows for a lot of customization. A few small things that I would add or change to make everything easier.

  • Apr 02, 2007 — Fun in the kitchen

I sent Cooking Mama back today, or I will tomorrow, and I had a fun last couple of hours playing on it. I discovered some parts of the game that more then made up for a lot of the problems I mentioned in my earlier posts.

  • Apr 01, 2007 — Childrens Festival

The childrens festival went great this year, all of the entertainment acts showed up and the audiences at all of the performances where responsive and larger then previous years.

  • Mar 31, 2007 — Clown costume accesories

I was going through my clown costumes for the childrens festival and I realized something. I have been wearing a part of my costume that I never use and no one ever sees. When I first started clowning I thought that pants falling down while clowning was hilarious, I thought it was the funniest thing that I could do.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — IMADEIT- Aprils Fools Week Sale

So I figured I needed to get more folks over to IMADEIT, so I did what any self respecting online maker of things would do, I made a sale. The first 50 people that buy stuff at the IMADEIT will get a discount. Oh yeah.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — Not so game fly

So I have started using Game Fly to order my time wasting video games. While I was signing up I started to notice some minor changes that could be made to their site.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — Best web site colors

When designing your site make sure that the colors are pleasing to the eye and try to stay away from really busy backgrounds. I tend to shy away from black backgrounds, however, if done correctly it does look ok. Also when placing ads on your site make sure that they blend into your site and don’t distract.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — The Problems with do it yourself websites

So recently I have suggested some changes to a friends website. This is a website for his business that he built all by himself. He uses FrontPage and you can tell. His site also has a lot of tables instead of using the CSS and div setup. That isn’t really his problem, his problem is that the site is to busy.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — What does your website do for my browser

Make sure that your website works the same in all browsers. This will allow for more people to get the same experience from your site. This is a great first step when making a new website. For example, at the Palm store you cannot use their trade-up program with Opera.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — Judge that book by its cover

So the other day my wife, Sarah, was buying Christmas presents on Amazon.com. When she went to check out she was offered am Amazon.com Visa card and automatically get $30 back. So the order would have in a sense been free. So Sarah applied, filled out the application and was approved. However when she went to check out it was not an option of payment nor was she given a number to use. The offer of applying for an Amazon.com Visa card was still at the top of the screen.

  • Mar 30, 2007 — Learning street magic with a better website

Ellusionist.com is a site that has capitalized on the popularity of David Blaine and the whole street magic thing. They are a bunch of really good magicians who seem to grasp the importance of a webpresence. They sell magic tricks and DVDs as well as any supplies that you might need to do magic. Their site is very well laid out and very fancy looking. However, in my opinion there are some minor problems:

  • Mar 30, 2007 — Make me want to log in

If you have a login area on your site make it a part of every page. This way you won’t navigate users away from the content they are viewing when they log in. Examples: JokesAreAwesome.com, Threadless.com

  • Mar 29, 2007 — Craigslist facts

As I mentioned previously we have started using craigslist for listing our vacant properties. The week before we started the referral breakdown for our site was this:

  • Mar 28, 2007 — Now your cooking with gas

I just got Cooking Mama: Cook Off from GameFly for my Wii and I am sorta happy with the title. I feel that they made it into a mini game frenzy when I wanted it to be more like Trauma Center: Second Opinion with a simulation feel. Where you had a little more freedom and had to really think as you did the surgery.

  • Mar 27, 2007 — My office is not equal to awesome right now

So my work is starting to frustrate me. I have been trying to cut down on overtime in order to save some money. It hasn’t been working. I try to treat my employees with respect and assume that they are adult enough to manage their time and when I talk to them about only working overtime when it is necessary, that they would try to cut their overtime.

  • Mar 27, 2007 — Saints Row is quite a waste of time

Now I don’t mean that in a bad way. I mean that this game can suck you right into it with all of the mini-games forcing you to spend hours and hours completing them without necessarily completing any part of the actual story line (other then the first quick mission).

  • Mar 26, 2007 — Craigslist

At work we have recently been placing all of our vacant properties on to the local craigslist. At first I was skeptical since I have never really used craigslist for anything, and we are so used to paying for advertising that it is crazy.

  • Mar 26, 2007 — Photodork's new wordpress theme

So I spent a little time today updating Sarah’s blog with a new theme with sidebars and am trying to get Sarah to use categories. After a bad start with a theme that was messy and as my brother put it: “MY EYES”, I was off to a much better start. I made the header using a picture of a road and a picture of Reno that I had removed the background from, I also modified the CSS of the theme to fit my needs a little better.

  • Mar 26, 2007 — Searching for rope magic supplies

So I have been trying to expand my magic horizons by learning other tricks besides card tricks. Since I have focus so long on card magic I have had some difficult to learn other magic since my card magic works so well for me.

  • Mar 25, 2007 — Potato Soup Recipes

This is the recipe Sarah and I use when Making our delicious Potato Soup:

  • Mar 24, 2007 — Clown Supplies

Here is a small list of new props that I feel that need for clowning:

  • Mar 24, 2007 — Things I saw on my first ocean dive

I was originally trained in SCUBA by a local firefighter who was a PADI instructor. I took my Jr. Open Water when I was 15 and shortly afterwards went to Cozumel Mexico with my uncle Kevin. The neatest creatures that I saw where a toad fish, a group of squid and a spotted eagle ray.

  • Mar 23, 2007 — Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360

So I own both the Wii and the Xbox 360 and I find them both to be quite enjoyable, though I play the 360 more. This is because I am a lazy gamer. Even though I find the wii more enjoyable to play I find that I would rather sit on the couch and relax then move a lot when I play.

  • Mar 23, 2007 — Tips for Creative Play from a Professional Clown

by Dylan the Clown, with a little help from his mom._
_1. **Give yourself permission to be a kid
    - Don’t feel that since you are a doctor, grocery clerk or garbage person, or a parent that you have to act mature and adult all of the time. Allowing yourself 30 minutes a day to play with your children will relax you and build a better relationship with your children than all the gifts and money in the world. Plus the more that you allow your children to see you having fun the more they will realize that it is okay to have fun themselves.

    1. Creative play can be anything- I think that the best way to start is by reading. Read to your children so that they are introduced to story telling at an early age. This will make playing easier for them as well as you since most imaginary play is just acting out or retelling a story. As they get older and you start reading longer books, every night when you stop reading for the night ask them what they think is going to happen next. Sometimes their endings to a book might be better than the authors. This enhances their imagination which furthers their creativity.
    2. **Encourage your children to play and talk about it- **When you see you children playing with a toy, for instance a car, ask them what is going on. You will be pleasantly surprised by their answer. Most children have a whole universe they use when playing with one toy and then a whole different one when playing with another toy. By asking them to tell you the story of their play, your children will use their imagination, vocabulary and other important communication skills. Your child will then have an easier time writing, reading and talking in school.
    3. Turn off the T.V. - It is hard to give undivided attention to any activity while the T.V. is on. So set aside time to play with your children without the interruption of T.V., as well as the phone, housework, etc. You don’t want playing with your child to be a chore. Playing, if you remember from your own childhood, should be a fun time.
    4. You can play anywhere- Make ordinary activities into an adventure. Going to the grocery store can be a mission to the moon, the cart is a space ship, and you have to get all of the ingredients for the space station’s kitchen. Another great thing about making the grocery store into a game is that you can incorporate reading and math skills into the adventure. Ask your children to read the list, with or without your help, and then have them pick out the least expensive brand or find one for a certain amount. Or for younger kids have them count the items on the list and then count the items in the cart. Not only will your children be entertained, but the grocery store trip will be enjoyable for everyone without the usual squabble over what to buy.
Creative Play for children is a must, it helps children become creative, fun loving life long learners Just remember to laugh, be goofy, have water fights, cook together, read together, hug and wrestle, listen to music and enjoy the time with your children.

  • Mar 23, 2007 — The Bare Minimum or the search for better wordpress themes

So as I constantly strive to make my blog awesome I have decided on a few things. Firstly I am going to a minimalist theme, this way it will be east to read and easy to navigate. Secondly I am going to update the crap out of it. Thirdly I am going to monetize the shit out of it to make loads and loads of money. Then I am going to buy a mini cooper is all pimped out. Then retire.

  • Mar 23, 2007 — Them video games are So fly

So I have started using game fly. It seems to work good and overall I have been happy with the service and all that jazz. I am hoping that it continues to be a good service and gives me what I want.
I find the whole mail order video games\DVD thing to be quite interesting. It always seems to be a good idea but then I inevitably stop sending them back fast enough to save money, at least that is what Sarah and I did with netflicks. I think I will do better with video games since I already play the shit out of video games.
This will hopefully prevent me from spending more money on video games and screwing myself over on the trading them in for credit or whatever. I will have to apologize to bob at the game store since I won’t be buying games as much.

  • Mar 23, 2007 — At it again

Since this last year has been plagued with injuries and laziness I am starting to panic. I haven’t been practicing my skills like I should have been.

  • Mar 22, 2007 — As the world turns

So I found a fun game to waste my time…what little I have. It is called Toribash. It is basically turn based fighting, this means that you can manipulate all of the joints to relax, hold, contract or extend. Once you make all the changes you want you press space. Then your enemy does the same. It is a lot of fun to mess with and makes you want to make martial arts movies. I think this game would work good on the wii. Let people customize their avatar and then fight each other on line. Somehow I think you can add swords and the like.

  • Mar 19, 2007 — The great site migration

I am starting to kill off my extra sites and consolidate them under one domain. This way I can update in one place as well as keep track of stats a lot easier. So soon ClownsAreAwesome.com will exist under the Clown page here at DylanReed.org and ClownUsability.com will be under the Usability page up above.

  • Mar 19, 2007 — Frustrating day

This morning my day was great, super great…then lunch tried to happen. I was getting ready to leave, to meet Sarah for some Chinese food, when I noticed a flaw in the payroll. This morning there was one little mistake…right before lunch there was about 55 extra hours of overtime that magically appeared. So I got back from lunch and spent two hours fixing the time clock and the hours so payroll can go great tomorrow.

  • Mar 19, 2007 — Biometrics

So the company we use for some of our biometric building security has stopped supporting the models we are using. So we have to get new systems…So Mad!!!

  • Mar 17, 2007 — Adwords

So I started to work with adwords at work. I spent the past hour or so going through and updating us in Google local, designing a banner ad as well as setting up mobile search and text ads. It is a pretty smart system though at times I found it tedious. I think that it would be better if it was smart enough to grab information from you previous ads. Like grab the target URL from your previous text ads when you are making another one.

  • Mar 16, 2007 — Really

So today I had one of those moments where I was like….’Really!!!’ I found out we had some people squatting in one of our building and stealing stuff from the basement of the building.. I mean.. Really!!.

  • Mar 15, 2007 — Crack-A-Lack

There is a game that came out recently that had so much potential and possibility that almost belly flopped. I am speaking of course of Crackdown. This is a futuristic third person shooter that is a lot of fun to play. The problem is that it is a was, rinse, repeat game. You run around, find a boss, kill a boss and then find another boss.

  • Mar 15, 2007 — Cat Fight

So our cat Reno was outside last night with Sarah when along game two dogs. Long story short, Reno was smelled by the dogs, which he didn’t like, so he hit them. This led to a royal rumble of sorts with Reno coming out on top in the battle royal.

  • Mar 14, 2007 — Rebreather

The information in this post is what I remember from dive school as well as what I have gleaned from the internet…it is not 100% accurate and will be fixed\updated as I learn more. Oh and remember rebreathers kill!!

  • Mar 14, 2007 — Web Projects

Here are some of my web projects that I have been working on:

  • Mar 14, 2007 — So many good video games

There are so many good video games coming out this year. Here is the list of my top five for XBOX 360 and the Nintendo Wii.XBOX 360:

  • Mar 14, 2007 — I found today...Annoying

Today was one of those days where I wanted to slap stuff. One of our office people was going to be gone due to a death in the family. I was fine with that. I understood. Then as I was driving to work thinking how annoyed I’d be if someone called in sick my phone rang. Yep. Someone called in sick. So our normal staff of four office folks is down to two. This is on top of our HOA liaison being out of the office due to a surgery. This means my week was supposed to be my walk around tours in the beautiful Colorado weather. Instead today was run around like crazy covering the office as well as helping with HOA stuff and covering the HOA office for lunch.

  • Mar 13, 2007 — All That Jazz

So having started the store I wanted to get some opinions as well as spread the word about the store. I have just started using Consummating.com and it seem like a good place to get an opinion since it was my first post of any sort.

  • Mar 13, 2007 — Scam Alert

I have read a lot online about people who receive emails from random people in Africa about helping launder money and have been disappointed in the lack of those emails that I receive. Well not anymore. I have received two offers to launder money in the past couple of weeks and have been just itching to talk about them. One of them is the typical African one with the I am royalty and need help getting money out of the country so the rebels don’t get it. That one was ok. The best one… The one I will share with the world was from a Williams Smith Lee.

  • Mar 12, 2007 — IMADEIT

So recently I have started an online store. It is where I am going to sell all of the stuff that I sell. everything will be made to order as well as everything is availible for custom orders. Please spread the word so I can make lots and lots of money as well as have an excuse to sew and make all sorts of awesome things. Right now their aren’t a lot of pictures up but this week the pictures will go up.

  • Mar 11, 2007 — Boy is my face red

So I mentioned in my last post that I had talked briefly with a friend about playing some Rifts and that he seemed less then excited. Apparently that is untrue. I talked briefly to him the other day and I guess his girlfriend who is one of my good friends read that on my blog then told my RPG friend about it and he wondered if it was him I was talking about. It was, though he is excited about playing and was just distracted by school or something. Stupid school. On the plus side we are going to start playing sometime in the future. We just need to find some more people to play.

  • Mar 07, 2007 — Today

I have been typing up and inventory list for work. It isn’t the most fun but is relatively mindless so it gives me time to think. Here is what I have been thinking.

  • Mar 06, 2007 — I hate credit card companies

Here is the backs story and what happened last Friday:

  • Mar 06, 2007 — Pick a Card

So a friend of mine has started to learn slight of hand and we got into an interesting discussion about magic and doing magic for people. We came to a couple of conclusions. First that there are three types of people in the world of magic. Those who like to be tricked, those that have to figure out how it is done and those who know how it is done and don’t care.

  • Feb 28, 2007 — This is awkward(see number two)

So a few interesting things have happened in the past couple days…by the past couple days I mean yesterday.

  • Feb 10, 2007 — Interesting

At one of the Home Owners Associations that we manage there is a holding pond for irragation water. The HOA board and my boss(aka dad) want me to dive it to make sure the the inlet\outlet area isn’t clogged. This is awesome because it has given me an excuse to dive again. Of course this makes me get out all of my gear and go through it, re-read all of my manuals and dream. He was
1: I got into contact with my dive friend Scott Cassell. He was one of my instructors at the College of Oceaneering and is an all around good guy. He is currently filming a show on dangerous sea creature and un-like a lot of underwater crazies he really trys his best to protect himself and his crew. He is also somewhat of a circus guy so that is another area in which we click.

  • Jan 17, 2007 — AIMS Community College Rant

So I recently signed up for a class that teaches to the Colorado Real Estate exam. This is handy since I need a license to further myself at work and I need an actual classroom since I suck at online classes. So I get myself all ready for class tonight, the first night because of MLK day, making dinner, playing a little Zelda and arriving about 30 minutes early.

  • Jan 12, 2007 — Blame the parents

Now the Columbine video game is an interesting plunge that video games have yet to take. The based on a true story video game. It basically puts you in the shoes of either Dylan Kelbold or Eric Harris around the time when they killed 13 of their classmates. It allows you to make similar dicisions to the ones they made and also points out a lot of flaws on the blame that was placed on Death Metal and video games.

  • Jan 10, 2007 — Columbine RPG best video game ever

So recently a new role playing game has been released for the PC. It is the Super Columbine Massacre RPG. I applaud the creator for putting forth his take on the events as well as taking the time to research what happened. I would say that a lot of people misunderstand the purpose of the game and I think that that is sad.

  • Jan 02, 2007 — XMAS

So it has been a hectic holiday season. First with the family arrangements. With everyone wanting us to be everywhere at the same time. Harper went to Japan for the season to be with his not mail order bride Hiromi. That was good and all, but Sarah and I missed that red haired bastard.

  • Dec 20, 2006 — Snowed In

So it is snowing in colorado today. a lot of snow. I wasn’t feeling very good this morning so I didn’t go into work.

  • Dec 18, 2006 — Pirates\Slaves

So I was doing my morning check the news when I found this article. It got me thinking, if this is the second time in 10 years that that museum has canceled an exhibit due to slavery issues, why is it that the rest of us don’t get to choose the history that museums show.

  • Dec 14, 2006 — Stuff

So we finally got all teh bills for my knee surgery and I get to call the people and make payment agreements with them. Yipee. On the plus side my bills are a lot less then Sarah’s so I owe only like $1000.00 so thats good.

  • Dec 13, 2006 — From my Treo

So I am posting this from my treo so my normal hardcore use of spelling etc will be suspended tell next post. I find the little keyboard on the treo to be ok but at the same time annoying. I mean where is the comma? Also it seems odd to me that it knows to automatically capitalize letters after a period but dosen’t do it after a question mark. One thing I do like is always being connected to work. that is awesome. really it rules. not even kidding. oh and you might have noticed that it dosen’t really capitalize automatically like I originally thought.

  • Dec 10, 2006 — Fruity Cheerios are the best

This morning I awoke to one of the best morning sounds. Sarah Making waffles. I quickly got out of bed and eat me some delicious waffle. THen sarah had to go so she could go play in blackhawk with her mom and aunt carol. I took a quick shower, finished the Subtle Knife and waited for my cousins to come over.

  • Dec 07, 2006 — New Theme,

So I once again changed the overall look of my website. Harper showed me this template and set it up and then I have been tweaking it. It has a lot of neat features that allow people to enter into my life.

  • Dec 06, 2006 — The time this must have taken

This is the greatest light xmas decorations ever. I wish I had the time and dedication to do something like that. I think that harper and I need to do something like that to my mom and dad’s house next year. Their neighbors would love that.

  • Dec 05, 2006 — Pity Party is almost over

Well after having a nice weekend long pity party I have a plan.

  • Dec 04, 2006 — Cephalapods are Awesome

Harper sent me this video and it made me remember how much I like Octopi. Basically it shows how nice it would be to not have bones. Earlier I posted that soon the orcas will be our overlords. I am changing that Idea to mean The United Octopus Alliance (UOA). With their ability to suck our faces off and the ease in which they could escape they will quickly dominate the world. Unlike the inately evil Orca, the UOA will work to unite the world. Unfortunatly there would of course be the blue ringged octopi that would side with the Orcas and be an embarassment to all UOA and all of the affiliated species. Oh and did I mention they are tricky
The Pity Party was a resounding success with just Sarah and I attending, We spent some quality time with our friends of Mario Party 5 but since they don’t get out much they didn’t get us any good presents. Harper sent me an internet hug of sorts. Thanks Harper

  • Dec 01, 2006 — duldrums

So today has been an eh day

  • Nov 30, 2006 — Killer whales....DUH!!!!

So harper sent me this link. It makes me laugh that people are still so blind to the evil that is killer whales. Hopefully with news stories like this and the scene in Happy Feet with the Orcas, people will realize that we should no more train killer whales then we should train sharks.

  • Nov 28, 2006 — Slogans

So lately I have been playing on the threadless site. Since I have no artistic ability I have been trying to come up with slogans for people to score it is a lot of fun. What makes me laugh is some of the random crap that comes out in those slogans. At times it seems to be like a forum with people flaming other designs by changing a few words. The only problem is that the voting interface isn’t as cool as the graphic design scoring set up. Also I feel that more of the slogan people are like me, Really bored, without artistic talent. Its rough

  • Nov 10, 2006 — LEGOS

So yesterday Sarah and I went to target to get dominos. Just so everyone knows playing dominos rocks. So much fun.

  • Nov 02, 2006 — Choose your own adventure

I remember those books, always so much fun. The best part is that they have survived in spirit with the creation of all of the free form video games. The best example that i can come up with is Splinter Cell: Double Agent. The main story is that you are an NSA secret agent and you are going under cover with a terrorist cell. Surprisingly the terrorists are not arab\Taliban but seem to be Russian or the like. Basically cold war\James Bond bad guys.

  • Oct 26, 2006 — Drug Bust Suckas

So there was a drug bust in the wonderful city of Greeley.

  • Oct 26, 2006 — Learning

So I recently purchased a new amgic trick from Ellusionist. What the trick is isn’t important, what is important is what I learned from the DVD. The person who is teaching the trick puts great emphasis on making sure that people are breaking moves down into little steps. Once you break it down into little steps and practice those steps until they are second nature. This is true whether it is magic or juggling or even unicycling.

  • Oct 25, 2006 — Cigar Boxed In

So the other day I was laying in my bed recovering from knee surgery number two in five weeks when I had a brainwave. I have always found cigar boxes to be a quite facinating juggling article. The shear number ofthings you can do with them and the awe that it provides for an audeince makes me happy. Plus of all juggling things besides balls you can find the most items like the prop at the grocery store for cigar boxes. Cereal, cake mix, jello boxes you name it it is cigar boxable.

  • Oct 24, 2006 — Knees Fiasco Part Deux

So I had my other knee surgery last wednesday. All went well as far as drug reactions went because all I took was aleve. Luckily I haven’t had an adverse reaction to that yet but some day.

  • Oct 17, 2006 — Circus

I went to the circus this last weekend and had a grand old time. First are tickets where cheap cheap thanks to a friend of mine that is a clown with Ringling Bros. I realize as I type this that my previous post explained all of that so….moving on.

  • Oct 09, 2006 — I am a HUGE DORK!!!!

This may not suprise many of you. Or any of you but there it is. I am a dork because this next Sunday I get to go to the Circus. Now that in itself isn’t that different from any other year, however, this year I get to go back after the show and meet all of the clowns. I am so excited.

  • Sep 22, 2006 — Knee fiasco

So I had surgery yesterday and it all went well until I started to fill like shit yesterday. What happenend is we followed the instructions from the surgery center for my vicodin and It made me crazy nauseous and dizzy so we went to the ER and low and behold i was dehydrated.

  • Sep 19, 2006 — Knee Surgery Tomarrow

So i get to get cut up tomarrow and I am so excited. I am going to have knee surgery on the left knee. Hopefully when it is all said and done I will have un crooked knees.

  • Sep 14, 2006 — New way of Bloging

Thanks harper for showing me this new fancy way of blogging. It is through microsoft and explorer and it seems to be magic.

  • Sep 01, 2006 — What been happening with you?

So harper went and got himself all married up. He married Hiromi who I guess might now bee Hiromi Reed but I really hope that harper took her last name Nakazawa. They went to Japan and got married. My dad went and had a really good time. It is quite funny to see the Pictures of Harper, Hiromi and Hiromi’s parents. It is only funny because harper leans in to make himself shorter. It rocks. This weekend is Sarah and I’s two year annevarsary or however you spell that word. I got sarah a sweet present. I would tell you but for some reason she reads my site. I will tell more later on the present.

  • Aug 25, 2006 — New computer at work

So I got a Dell Optiplex for work. It is great I just finished putting music on it and am listening to Tubular Bells. The best thing that about my new computer is the 19” monitor. I am going to be sad to have to go home and use that computer with its small (15” i think) monitor. Sarah and I have a plan. No news for you folks just know that New Stuff is going to be happening soon.

  • Aug 18, 2006 — ...annoying

So recently after months and months of no clown\entertaining jobs I keep getting calls about doing jobs the weekend of Nan’s wedding. It isn’t really annoying so much as it is a bummer because I want to do both.

  • Aug 07, 2006 — Make-up, costumes and make-up OH MY

Here are my opinions on clown makeup and faces. I started out as an auguste and have never tried to be anything else. I tried tramp makeup both years I was at Moosecamp and while I enjoyed it both times my character doesn’t really fit the bill as a sad tramp or happy hobo, maybe hyper hobo but that is a different story. As I look back on my seven years of clowning I notice many differences in what my clown face and views on clowning have changed.

  • Aug 03, 2006 — Scribble

So today we had shit stolen from one of our properties and it makes me mad. then I have to deal with the cops and such

  • Jul 25, 2006 — Wierd stuff at work

So i was searching in google for "no soliciting sign rules in greeley CO" in google and I found a swingers club in Denver. It was weird. Sometimes google makes me laugh Anyway. Today when I got home from work I went through and practiced all of the card tricks I know to 1) make them better and 2) try to come up with a basic routine. I think that I need to master a few more tricks so I will have fiftenn minutes of card magic which can be drawn out to 20 if necessary. I

  • Jul 20, 2006 — So frustrated

So today I called the people planning Greeleya€™s annual Potato Days a celebration of history and potatoes. I was al excited to go and perform at the festival when I realized that it happens to be on the weekend of my Mother-in-laws wedding. This was not frustrating.

  • Jul 20, 2006 — Part one of step one of the plan

I need to purchase this book. It is called Illusion Tech and it teaches how to design and build a bunch of illusions.

  • Jul 19, 2006 — So this afternoon...

I went to kick a bunch of kids out of a pool that we manage. Unfortunatly for the mean part of me all of the kids where allowed to be there. Stupid kids.

So I am starting to rock the psp homebrew stuff again, After losing my psp charger for about 3 months (it was in the garage) I finally found it and decided to start playing with it again. Mostly because I had so much fun before with it.

  • Jun 06, 2006 — This time I really am sorry

So I ran out of time to blog again.

  • May 01, 2006 — Opps

  • Apr 30, 2006 — Making t-shirts

So the company my brother works for has a service where they let people design t-shirts and then others vote on the t-shirts and then the highset voted ones get made and sold. If you design is choosen then you get money. good deal.

  • Apr 24, 2006 — Three Things

    1) This last weekend I helped my mom set up the embroidery module for her super fancy Bernina Arista 200e. Man is it fancy. You can do full color embroidery with as many colors as you want. The greatest thing was that it took about 15 minutes to setup and my mom hadn’t done it because the whole time she thought she had to download something. All I had to do was attach the module and then poof…EMBROIDERY HO!!!!!!

  • Apr 24, 2006 — Ha Ha Ha

So i got a call from Jesus stating that I had offended him by saying that i was sewing my soul away from him. He said that he hates sewing and has no interest in my soul.

  • Apr 17, 2006 — So this weekend...

I was sewing away on Saturday, Sewing my little soul away for jesus when poof, my machine was attacked by a demon. well maybe it just needs a tune up but it still threw a monkey wrench into my sewing plans for the week. I am now out of sewing for 3-5 days until they fix it. I tried to convince my mom to give me her 4000 machine but alas she wouldn’t. I bet she would loan it to harper. (chuckle and then a sob cause its true)

  • Apr 11, 2006 — Working

So it is funny, I now work for my Dad. which means that I cannot talk trash about my job or he might read it. just kidding. actually my job is going quite well, I basically do all sorts of random stuff.

  • Apr 03, 2006 — Gobolty gook

seven days have past since I started working for my dad and so far so good. I am not really suprised but i am happy. I basically spend my time driving around serving notices, checking work quality and inspecting rentals prior to move in. I also sometimes hang out at the office and write work orders and help take rent and such. ok that was just today. One nice thing is that I will be doing something different most days, with no set routine, which is good for the ADHD I seem to be afflicted with. and by afflicted I mean I am its master.

  • Mar 30, 2006 — Riight!!

So last friday I lost my jerb, it sucked. So then after a weekend of oh shit, I started to work for my father, which is weird only becasue I am working for him in a capacity that i have never done before. I am basically taking little parts of a lot of jobs enabling people to do their jobs better. So that is good

  • Mar 23, 2006 — Charlie Foxtrot

So today at work a new employee for one of my fellow coordinators came in to do some training wiht me. She came in and was immeadiatly rude to me and basically told me that I was wrong to make her do these activities and that she shouldn’t have to do them. Basically I told her that since she wasn’t my employee I didn’t care what she did but if she wanted to work she had to do these activities.

  • Mar 23, 2006 — Magic

Have you ever seen a street performer? If you live in or near a big city you probably have. One thing you might have noticed is their ability to hold an audience. This is the most important skill of street performing, because the more people you have standing around you the more tips you can potentially get.

  • Mar 22, 2006 — Today

So today started off sad with Sarah being all riled up about being sick. She is Sick and Damn Tired of being sick. I agree with her assesment of the being sick. After that I haeaded to FOCO to do my duties at work. While at work I enjoyed watching the hunt for red october while I did paper work.

  • Mar 22, 2006 — Clown Costumes

So this week is my spring break from work. It is Sarah’s Spring Break so I took it off as well. It has be crazy so far with Sarah and I painting our study brown, really really brown. It looks awesome and makes for a cozy reading room\study\office\whatever I want it to be.

  • Mar 14, 2006 — Childrens Festival

So coming up soon(April 1st) is the Childrens Festival, and boy am I excited. I believe this will be my 4th year as the MC the first year was un official and I have since just taken the position over. This year I actually joined the planning commitee which I think was a plus because it has allowed me to get the entertainment needed for this event. There is about 6 different dance groups, a group of jump ropers and a puppet show.

  • Mar 07, 2006 — stuff

So these last couple weeks have been really stressful, with sarah’s body not liking the pills she has to take for her UC. She got these funny bruises that went from quater size to my hand sized in less then an hour.

  • Mar 07, 2006 — Magic

So today I sat down and made a plan. A magic plan. I looked over all of the magic stuff that I own: Tricks, Books, Videos and Supplies; and I realized something. I need to start mastering that stuff.

  • Feb 28, 2006 — Awesome ness

So the past days have been ok. I have been practicing yoyo quite a bit and I think my finger has finally adjusted to the string trying to burn its way all the way through. I have also been watching a lot of Southpark at work. It plays nicely on my monitor allowing me to work while still enjoying the Southpark. Here is a list of episodes that everyone needs to watch: Casa Bonita, Professor Chaos, Free Hat, Asspen, AWESOM-O, and All About Mormons. They all make me laugh.

This weekend I will be performing at the special olympics mardi gras fund raiser in Denver. This is my second year doing this event and it should be fun. Sarah is coming along to take pictures and if I play my cards right possibly video some of it. It basically consist of walking around and entertaining. There will also be a face painter and other random entertainers.

  • Feb 23, 2006 — Street Clowns

Street clowns use the art of clowning to bring laughter to the people. Street clowning is an idea I got after watching the movie âa‚¬Å”Rize.âa‚¬Â It seemed to me that Tommy the Clown had a great idea to get kids off the streets and out of gangs by using a combination of dance and clowning

  • Feb 23, 2006 — Week one of learning to Yo-Yo

I will write down what has been going down some day and set up like a three part series. Until them you can check out my new projects at here and here. Harper has finally tricked me into embracing my nerd genes and got me hooked on htmland xhtml, he is trying to get me hooked on php but it may not work. we’ll see.

So yesturday I performed at the grand opening of the greeley Ice Haus. It was a lot of fun except for the couple times I tried to seriously injure myself.

  • Sep 23, 2005 — i'm a shit

I have politely told sarah that she should read enders game by orson scott card. She has done nothing but make fun of me for being a huge dork ever since. ok ok she has only made empty threats about not reading it when i am a shit to her. whatever life is so much aboutthe details.

  • Sep 13, 2005 — SICK AS A DOG

So, apparently sleeping next to and kissing someone who is sick will get you sick. Who knew. So i am all stuffed up and not sleeping good, stupid pills not working, which makes me cranky.

  • Sep 06, 2005 — Trippitty doo dah

So sarah and I got back yesterday from our road trip to vegas. It was quite a bit a fun and by that I mean that it ruled. We left on wednesday night and drove to Grand Junction where we slept in the car for about 2 hours or so and then continued on. The funny thing about that is that we only had one pillow and one blanket so Sarah took the blanket and I the pillow. It was silly. I did sleep abnormally good for the small space and sleeping in car seats. After a quick breakfast of Burger King (which later seemed like less of a good idea then it did at the time,) we continued our journey with Sarah taking the first two hours of thursday. While Sarah drove us along I once again slept in the car seat this time with the pillow and blanket. After a brief rest stop we continued further into Utah, which is boring.

  • Aug 24, 2005 — Boo Hoo!!

So today I found out that my uncle who bought my bug from my dad sold it. no more bessie the bug of love. sad day.

  • Aug 23, 2005 — Sea School and Sarah Starting Monsters

On saturday there was a show on discovery channel called “Killer Squid”. It was about the homboldt squid and had smoe footage and comments by one of my old instructors from dive school. It was very exciting. Thanks to Josh for letting me know.

  • Aug 18, 2005 — Knew Knee

So here is the deal with my knee. Apparently not only do I have fat knees but they are crooked. My knee caps lean to one side causing them to crunch the muscles and nerves there thus the hurting. I will try to get a xray picture so you can see. Basically between my knee cap and the bones next to it there is supposed to be about an inch and there is only 1\2 inch on the left and 1\8 on the right.(those demensions may not be accurate just for the purpose of illustration). the good news is that I can continue my old tricks to strengthen those muscles as well as complete

  • Aug 17, 2005 — Stuff

My knee is very pissed. I am going to try to get to the Doctor this week and figure out what is making it so mad. I hope it dosen’t lead to more surgery but if it does I am going to get the video for nata2.info.

  • Aug 15, 2005 — Work Work and more Work

I enjoyed it quite a bit and thank them for their genorosity and also would like to thank my mom for joining the aforementioned cult and hooking me up with the work.

  • Jun 14, 2004 — This sucks

So this weeks has been awesome so far. I know its only three days old how awesome can it be. First off on Sunday Sarah’s PT Cruiser decided that is didn’t really need to shift anymore. It decided this why we were going about 60mph on the highway. So we pulled over and stopped the car. I got out and took a look at the engine. Cuase that help, cause I have looked at a lot of engines in the past and automatically know what is wrong. we determine that it is broken and try to find a roadside assitance number. We search and search the car thinking hey this car is less then three years old it should still be covered under the warrenty. (not true but more on that later) So with no roadside assistance we call parents. Mine don’t answer, Sarah’s Dad is on a cruise, luckily Sarah’s mom answers and sarah talks to her about what went on with the car. Right after sarah gets off the phone a nice man stops and gives us a ride home.(sarah admitted later that she was sure this nice man was going to kill us for sure.) Once we were home i was able to find the roadside assitance number online which helped with me out since i have all sort of internet in sarah’s car. As I was talking to the roadside assitance people it came out that the warrenty had actually expired due to number of miles on the car. So we sat contemplating what to do, suddenly the phone rings and it is Bill sarah’s step father. He said that he would meet us at the car and that we should pick up some transmission fluid on are way. WE piled into my car and drove to wal mart cause though we hate them they do have everything (or do they). We get into wal-mart and wonder over to the automotive section and search and search and cannot find transmission fluid. we ask one of the super helpful sales associates. he directs us over to the transmission fluid and we still cannot find the right stuff. So we ask again this time for the specific type of fluid. I even asked if he could check if they really have the right stuff. He was kind enough to once again refer us to the automotive section, where we just were so that helped. we then went to sears. they didn’t have it so we ended up going to advanced auto parts and find stuff that would work.

  • Jun 10, 2004 — Whoohoohoho!

Thats right: Whoohoohoho. Thats how I feel. I might have gotten a job working with The City of Greeley’s dive unit. Its wierd but i might get to use what i went to school to do. Cause I am awesome.
    ok thats all

  • May 29, 2004 — Stupid Greeley

So as most people know I am from Greeley Colorado. The same Colorado that has the worlds greatest Congresswomen. Unfortunaty this same lady hates gay people. And I mean HATES. I think that here passion for stamping out gay marriage borders on the insane. She a goverment representitive who you would think might understand about the seperation of church and state. In an editorial on her webpage she says “Accepting gay marriage as an equivalent to traditional marriage will create a crisis far more severe than any current danger marriage is facing. In particular, the vital role of marriage in raising children will be uprooted. Furthermore, the boundaries that define marriage will be forever blurred. Any imaginable relationship will be freed from justification. American society will be forced to accept any relationship, no matter what form it takes. One man and one woman would no longer be the vanguard. The attempt to deconstruct marriage and make same sex unions equivalent to traditional marriage must not be overlooked nor underestimated. This is a real and present danger that will undermine the foundation that makes the union between a woman and a man uniquely necessary.” SHe has sponsored a bill that defines marraige as a union between a man and a woman. I feel that this is wrong because the most important reason peopel get married is LOVE, I know a weird idea and all bt thats why i am getting married. I recently read an interesting article on the opinion page of the greeley tribune that summed up my feelings on the whole ordeal.

  • May 22, 2004 — I feel that i need to talk to people

A guy walks in to the dentist to get a cavity filled. He tells the dentist "Doc, I cannot handle pain what can you do for the pain." the docter says, "nomally we give shots >" the man turns pale and says" THat won't work i am deathly afraid of needles." the doctor states" thats ok we can just use the gas". "Well that would work except I am deathly allergic to the Gas" the man says. the dentist thinks for a moment, then reaches in his pocket and produces two pills from a bottle. "Here" he says," take these. "Are they pain killers?" the man asks. "No", says doc, there viagra. I wanted to give you something to hold on to"

    This entry is fairly diturbing.

  • May 14, 2004 — Tiger Sharks

If you ask most people what is the most dangerous creature in the ocean, most will answer Great White Sharks. Well this is a gross misunderstanding. Great white sharks are huge and can kill you but typically attack only things that look like their normal food. There are many other creatures in the world that will attack humans more ferociously then great white sharks. For instance, Tiger Sharks.

  • May 07, 2004 — Funny Story

So I have noticed that as I play on the internet I use Harpers Websiteas base. I will go around and visit other sites and then shot over to harpers when I am trying to think of somewhere else to go. It?s as if I am afraid of being idle on the internet. Anyone else this spastic while on the internet.
On a different note I am applying for a shift supervisor position at my old manager?s new store. His stores is on Colfax and Kalamath in Denver. So it might be back to the commuting. I also might start pursuing a business type degree online at one of those funny online colleges. Probably Westwood. They offer a business bachelors in 34 months. That kind of fits my style of school. Plus its all online.
So one of my cats(the black one) is crazy. Ok there both crazy but this one meows to wake me up every morning around five so I can pet her. After I stop petting her she yowls at me until around six or so and then wonders off. It is quite a bit of fun.
So use Vespa has a new scooter. It is 200cc of pure 70mph scooter love. I need one. Or this.
I have also found a car that I like more then a Mini, it is a Scion Xb. A good thing about the Scion is that is is alot cheaper and not alot bigger looking. inside it has an ungodly amout of space. ungodly i tell you.
Sarah is almost done with school. which is good. she has about a week left and then she has to go on an alaska cruise with her dad. poor baby. not really she is excited. really excited. her birthday is also coming up MAY 19th. if you would like to send her a present contact me. i can provide you with the info.

  • Apr 17, 2004 — Lucy is gone.

So I am sad today. A dog that I grew up with died to day. We found out Friday that she was going through renal failure. Her levels were off of the chart and yet she was not showing any pain the only way you knew that anything was wrong was that she was lethargic and wouldn’t eat regularly. After getting her test results back the vet said that he was surprise at how well she was doing.
Lucy was a cocker spaniel mix that we got when I was seven years old. She was a light tan color and had brown eyes. She was a neurotic licker that if given the chance would lick you until you couldn’t take it anymore. One of my favorite memories of Lucy was when I was eight or nine. I had been training Lucy in obedience through 4-H. I had just reached the level were she was supposed to be walked off leash. I was at the fair showing Lucy and my dad had just gotten there to watch when suddenly Lucy spots him or smells him and bolts. She runs to him, jumps in his arms and is just as happy as a clam.
When I got to the house this morning Lucy was asleep between the couch and one of the armchairs in the living room. I reached down to pet her and she didn’t move. After a brief moment of panic I noticed that her chest is moving, so I sit beside her and read Readers Digest. After a while she struggles to her feet and wobbles to the laundry room. I follow her, hoping to get a chance to pet her; when we arrive in the laundry room she walks to her water bowl (which happened to be empty) and then gives me a dirty look. I refill her bowl and then stand back as she takes a few tentative drinks. She soon decides that it is water and starts lapping it up as if it is the best drink ever. After a few minutes she loses interest in the water and wonders outside. I watch as she wonders listlessly around the yard. Her back legs shake as she walks around the yard from tree to tree.
When Lucy was a puppy she was as cute as any puppy could be. The funny thing about Lucy was that she was deathly afraid of Harper and I’s babysitter Amy. The thing with Amy is that she hates dogs. (Or so she says). Anytime she would say Lucy’s name Lucy would roll over on her back and submit.
Around 10:45am my dad came home to take Lucy to the vet. There are three images today that will stick with me forever. One of them was when my dad was holding Lucy on his lap, sitting on the couch, and removing Lucy’s collar for the last time. Then we got into the car and drove to the vet. During the ride Lucy sat on my lap and tears appeared in my eyes. I knew that that could be the last time that I got to hold her. We arrived at the vet and they let us right in.
As we entered the room I saw, in the middle of the floor, a pink fuzzy blanket on the blue-grey linoleum floor. My dad walked over to the only chair and sat down hold Lucy in his lap. A technician came in and gave Lucy a sedative to clam her down. During this time I got image number two. It is of Lucy looking up at my dad and licking his chin. This image still makes me sad. I knew that my dad loved Lucy so much and Lucy loved my dad so much.
Fifteen minutes later, the Vet entered the room. He was surprised at how alert Lucy still was. He brought in a syringe full of a clear-pink liquid. That was the stuff. He told us that after he injected Lucy she would be brain dead in less then 3 seconds. He also said that though brain dead she might have some residual nerve movements such as breathing and a heart-beat.
The Vet folded out the table and placed the pink blanket the cold stainless steel surface. My dad placed Lucy on the blanket; once again tears welled up in my eyes. The Vet took Lucy’s left front leg and started injecting the syringe. Lucy just drifted away. It was as if you could feel her spirit leave the room.
The last image is right before we left the Vet’s office. It is of my dad bending over and kissing Lucy one last time. I don?t think I realized that Lucy was dead until that moment. I know now that Lucy is in a better place, and though I tend to have no opinion on heaven-hell-god-Jesus, it helps me to think about Lucy chasing the perfect tennis ball. I wish that she wouldn?t have gotten sick, but as I think back on her life she had a full life and she did live to be 112 doggy years.
Lucy, you will not be forgotten, I miss you and I love you still.

    1. Blue Ringed Octopus (2/7)
    2. Great White Sharks (2/10)
    3. Moray Eels (2/12)
    4. Humboldt Squid (2/16)
    5. Tiger Sharks (2/20)

just a heads up the computer i am typing on needs a new space bar. Today was a fun day. I got up at 5am and got ready and drove to greeley and then went to work .i worked form 6:30a until nine when i went to class. after igot done with class at 11a i wne tback to work and worked until 3ish after work i went to the computer lab to print out some notes in geography. i am now sitting in the computer commens typing this up on the laoudest keyboard in the room. imagine everytime that there is a space a horrible bang like noise erupting fromthe keyboard. people keep looking at me and the lab moniter is glaring because he thinks i am abusing his machines. but what ever. if they would fix there crappy keyboards it wouldn’t sound like i was abusing them. stupid gateway. i mean so what if theses keyboards are used by thosands of kids a day.i pay my student fees (honestly mom and dad paythem) i want stuff to work.

  • Jan 29, 2004 — Bloody Movie and such

Do you know what is a bloody movie? The Patriot. I am watching it for a class. American History. We are supposed to watch one of a selection of movies and then analyze it for historical accuracy. It is fairly accurate I believe. There are parts that are hard to believe, such as the fact that so many of Mel Gibson’s kids are alive and that the african people working on his farm are not slaves. THis seems uncommen because at the time that this took place slavery was fairly widespread across all of the colonies. I found the portrayal of battle to be quite fascinating the way that they would charge charge charge and then encounter the other army and stop wait for the other army to fire. After numerous solders were shot then you could charge. That just seems like a bad plan. Another thing that I found hard to believe that Aunt Charlotte would own so much property and land. Since at that time men owned almost all land, I would think that her land however it was aquired would instead be owned by the oldest male relative of hers.
    T i l k h s f n a a o o t l r w

  • Jan 21, 2004 — The Question???

Harper kept wanting me to tell people about the email i got from one of his friends so i’ll re post it

Thats right ladies and gentlemen, the blue planet is getting its very own moon elevator. Not only will this expedite travel to the moon it will make it possible for anyone to travel to the moon to visit the colonies. No longer will you have to be put on the waiting list to travel on the orbiters, you can simply wait for the elevator to be in a town near your home and then just hop on.
Whats that you say? How can a moon elevator possibly travel around the world? Imagine if you will a vehicle the size of three busses with the elevator attached. Why does it have to travel? Because it will be attached to the moon.
After careful consioderation we at DST have decided to create the worlds first esculadder. The esculadder was first propsed by Mark Straward, a senior member of the design team. At first we considered an actual elevator but using the esculadder we are able to create prepetual motion which will allow us to start the eleveator and have it run forever.
Another design Presented by Dr. Reed Reprah was to tie a giant rope created with nanotubes around the equater of the moon and then anchor it to the earth in Austrailia of of Ayers Rock. We would then create a tram system that would go to and from the moon in a very scenic and relaxing ride. After careful analysis we realized that this would cause the moon wrap around the earth and crash right into the middle of Georgia, USA. Unfortunatley not only would that kill everyone in Georgia it would also really mess up the slides.
In just a few weeks we will send notices out to people who are living in the path of the base station. If you happen to get one of these notices we will transfer all of your assets to the moon colony Kronus. As DR. Emily Ross said “You guys are retarded.”

  • Jan 02, 2004 — Fucking last row of the plane

Here I sit in the last row of the airplane. Lucky row 13, seat B. It rules. I am on a plane that seats 50 people. On entrance in front as well as exits on the wings. I am sitting next to a lady who not only is she rude but she kind of smells like an apartment building. Not dirty but not necessarily clean either. The other 12 rows are 4 seats, two on each side of the aisle, not lucky 13 though. We get to sit by ourselves and suffer. Instead of two seats across from me there is the only bathroom for these 50 people. So maybe the lady next to me doesn’t smell of old apartments maybe it is the smell of disinfectant and the piss stench that disinfectants cannot cover.

I was a little riled up for my last entry. I was trying to fix sarah’s computer and was on the phone with technical support. The problem was that the computer wouldn’t start up properly. I would push the power button and it would pretend to start up and then about 15 secs later it would just shut off. it turns out that one of the clips that hold down the heat element thingy ma jigger was broken so it thought it was over heating. neat hu. so they are sending out a technitian to fix it. thats all. almost done with school. go me! and sarah with majesty. bye

  • Nov 24, 2003 — New Clown

So I am starting to get back into clowning. I kind of stepped away from it for a while. I think that was mostly because i was in california and was really lazy. I have started once again to design a costume through pricilla mooseburger, however, I will most likely have my mom’s seamstrss friend make it. I am also going to try to get some professional clown shoes. Hopefully they will be the last pair i have to by for the next 6 or 7 years. I am thinking also of getting a new wig. I would like to get one made of yak hair becasue it is more realistic but alas I am having a hard time finding a yak wig. The great thing about yak wigs is you can style them just like real hair and dye them also. I am getting a new clown noseIt will most likely be the SC a medium nose that has an interesting shape. I might also get the TXL. I will probably keep the same makeup as before because it fits my face but i may try to design a tramp charector as well.
Another thing i am think about doing is starting a non-profit hospital clowning service working through banner health. I think that starbucks may give me the money i need to start it but we’ll hav to see. I hope i can find donation from other places as well. I figure i need like 2000 to start it up for supplies and also for a little more training. Ideally i would like to be able to liveoff of donations from hospital clowning. I feel that hospital clowns are needed in every hospital to bring all of the sick and injured a little bit of laughter. laughter may not be the best medicine but it sure helps.
On a much more fun note my dad gets to have open heart surgery. go dad. it appears that one of his heart valves is missing a leaflet so it is leaky. the funniest part is that it has nothing to do with smoking or drinking so go dad.
thanksgiving was this last weekend and fun was had by all. lots of juggling was done and I did some crazy eating of the apple. I alsoworkied with my spinning plate. I have finished my design for a balloon sniches the dr suess charectors where some have stars upon thars and some don’t. a great story with mr mcmonkeymcbean. you know that one. I have also perfected some of my unicycling. I am hoping to put together a one clown stage show by march and to go to moosecamp this year.
    thats all.
sarah with majesty I LOVE YOU.

  • Nov 05, 2003 — I need glasses

So i forgot my glasses today which is making class that much more fun. It is funny because i use my glasses all day at school and then as soon as i get home and am just haging out i take them off. I don’t really know why i guess i just like the TV to be blurry. School is going good except that i am tired of must of my classes. i hate math and also pscyh is kindof boring. i am however in love with georgraphy and so that is good. I am now officially a starbucks employee. I have offically sold out and am a coffee monkey. it is actually quite a bit of fun and fairly laid back. the funniest thing for me is that i don’t really like coffee. Its like a blind man selling paintings how does he know what he is talking about. I am so sleepy. I found out a little while ago that i get to register on almost the last day of continueing student regestration. this means that i’ll be lucky to get any classes that i want. I am thinking that i will probably take human geography and see if i really do love geography or if i am just infatuated with it. Last night was super fun. Sarah and I went to bed at ten thirty and i couldn’t sleep because the cats were doing serious amounts of crack. they were running around knocking stuff over and stealing expensive balls of yarn from sarah and i’s roomate Idy. this was not cool. after a confinscated the yarn they contined to make noise and so i finally shut them out of the room and fell asleep. I woke up this morning and didn’t want to move i was so out of it. I just wanted to go back to sleep. sometimes when i first wake up i wonder why i am still tired it is not like i am harper and i get no sleep. i get about the prescribed 8 hours every night so what is the deal? i don’t know. that is basically all. love dylan
    sarah is pretty

  • Oct 20, 2003 — So Its Monday Again

So once again it is monday. Just a second ago i almost spelled “once” “wants”. I think taking notes al morning really messes with my head. Class are good and everything is fine. i have been working on my juggling a lot more and am hoping to get better at some of my more neglected props. goals are 5 balls, more tricks with clubs, balancing heavy stuff on my chin, head rolls, no longer juggling like a cripple, diabolo tricks as well as cigar box tricks. I hope to be able to put together a good show to present to b-day parties and also to do on stage. I am going to start a non-profit organization that will bring entertainers from other states to do presentations for rural schools and communities as well as hold juggling workshops. i think it will rock. the only problem is setting up non-profit status and then getting donations. I am hoping to make friends with the united way and possbly the colorado education people. I don’t really know how all that will work yet but hope to bring mark to colorado first as well as the jugglers. i will then contact other entertainers so i can bring them to colorado and possibly wyoming. My main area of focus is the schools around northern weld county as well as east towards burlington and lets not forget gilcrest and the other smaller schools around there. I hope to convince other jugglers and entertainers to help with getting donations possibly by street perfoming and putting tips towards the orginazation. I would also like to contact DUBE and Renegade about possibly donating juggling equipment to the goup to educate children in juggling.
So that is all i have thought of today.
Oh and harper when you come out we need to break me of my habit of saying RULE. Because right now everything RULES. I am not kidding i think sarah is going to beat me if i say something rules on more time. remeber sarah that nice girls say….
    love to all

  • Oct 08, 2003 — I love Canada or so I think!

So I had previously typed up this super fly entry. the only problem is that I erased it. Cause I rock. I just got done taking a map test in geography class, I ripped it up pretty good. I really wanted to spell ripped riped, you know like I riped up that banana or riped up that peach. that way things are more edible. my original post was on sign language among apes. I thought that it would be interesting to teach my cat sign language. here are some excerpts from my journal. MONDAY 10/06/03 show Thomas ASL alphabet. He looks at me and then goes and kills furry mouse (note to self:remove mouse from “lab”). LATER SAME DAY Cat now understands no ASL and has only picked up one sign that looks surprisingly like “the bird”. Wondering were he could have learned that? THE NEXT DAY I was telling Sarah about my experiment and the shocking results and she said that i was crazy. who’d of thought.

  • Oct 07, 2003 — Tuesday!?!

So today I worked “IT”. You know “IT”. I am a superstar leaf vacuumer. At work we have a leaf vacuum; it is just like a leaf blower but it sux instead of blows. Unfortunately the bag has a hole in it, that hole is, of course, positioned right over your leg. I didn’t realize this until I had sucked up some wet leafs and the engine heated water had made my pants all muddy. “IT” rocked my world. Check this out. The kid in that was in the car is one of my co-workers. He broke his collarbone and one of his legs. At work everyone was wondering if it was his fault. I always thought that when you are going the wrong way and you hit a school bus full of kids it is pretty much your fault. Maybe that?s just me. Soon I leave for Chi-town. Wahoo.

  • Oct 06, 2003 — Monday :(

Emoticons rock. So I am back to school today, and what a fun day it is. Today so far I have learned about learning, specifically language. I found out today that if you are a taught a second language between the ages of 0 and 7 years you will rock at both that language and your natural language. This includes sign language. I wish I would have learned a second language when I was young. Especially since studies by Newport have shown a link to better school performance and those who learn a second language when they are young. Isn't it great how psychollogy lets you blame everything on when you where younger and therefore on you parents. Maybe if I had learned another language when I was young I wouldn't have to use spell check when ever I do an entry.

  • Oct 03, 2003 — Hide N' Go Seek and More Fun Then A Barrel of Monkeys

So last night rocked. I mean it, it rocked. Around 8 o’clock Thomas (the cat) decided to escape. Well actually when Idy got home last night the door didn’t latch entirely in the garage. This normally wouldn’t be that big of deal, however, last night the garage door didn’t get shut and the wind blew the door open. So there I was minding my own business when I hear “Fuck!! Has anyone seen Thomas and Vegas?” So the search begins. Vegas was easy to find because he is a wimp and just hides under the car in the garage. Thomas on the other hand is a lot bolder and was gone like a flash. Sarah searched the house for about 15 minutes while Idy and I ran around like crazy people through the area right by our house. We then broadened are search to include the surrounding blocks. After about one and a half hours of seeking with no finding. Idy spotted him from her car and called us. Sarah and I, being near the house, hoped into her care and raced, not unlike police, to the scene. Idy had spotted Thomas sitting under a tree and once she got out of her car he was gone. We searched frantically around this area. The area we were searching was a hill that the developers probably put up to block the sound of interstate 25. It was incredibly steep and treacherous. After searching and searching, we decided to drive around shining a flashlight in between houses. Sarah and I were in her car and Idy had driven back to the house to pick up Tony. Suddenly Sarah spotted him between two houses and I stopped the car. We slowly exited the vehicle and approached the cat. Surprise, surprise the little bastard runs. We gave chase but he is a cat on four legs and he left us in the dust. Sarah and I got back in the car and started driving back and forth on the same street. Sarah’s cell phone started to ring about 15 minutes later. It was Idy calling saying that they had found him and had him cornered. We hurried to were they had him trapped and the four of us surrounded him. We approached slowly and then like a star football player he jumped and juked and sprinted a way. We chased him, me in the lead and Tony not far behind when suddenly he pulled a kitty disappearing act. Just like that he was gone. I couldn’t understand how that could happen. At this point it was 11 o’clock and Sarah and I hadn’t eaten dinner so we all headed back to the house to rest. The hope was that Thomas would just come home. After I had two pop-tarts and Sarah had some popcorn we headed back out on the road. After about 10 minutes of searching I spotted him at a corner house. I had the flashlight beam on him and I slowly removed my cell phone from my pocket and called Idy. Before Idy could answer Thomas started to run so I tossed the cell phone on my seat and sprinted after him. He stopped under a car and yowled at us. Sarah approached slowly and almost got him before he bolted around the house and around the corner. I take off like a greyhound and keep up with him. Now the house we were running around has a fence on the sides and the front but not in the back. Thomas runs around the side fence and into the backyard with me in hot pursuit. He ran to the corner and climbed the fence. Then before I knew it I was climbing the fence Jackie Chan style and continuing pursuit like I was on COPS. He runs around and goes under the same car he was under before. As we approached the car he ran again and again I chased him. This time when he got to the end of the side fence he just disappeared. I couldn?t find him. I started to cuss…a lot. I was furious, I had splinters in my hand from climbing the fence, and all I wanted was my damn cat. Sarah came over, out of breath because this whole time she had also been running and I told her that I had lost him again. I looked around one more time before heading back to the car. As I finished turning I saw the flash of green eyes. It had to be him. I told Sarah I had found him as I walked over. He has situated himself under a Jeep Grand Cherokee and looked pissed. Sarah and I kept him under there until Idy and Tony arrived and then we attacked. Sarah got him out and handed him to Idy and we whisked him home. At this point it was about 12:30 or so. I was tired it sucked in a fun sort of way.

  • Oct 01, 2003 — 9+3=12 or 7-3=2

So today I was going from class to class and it struck me…
If biology is the science of life and psychology is the science of the mind then is scientology the science of science?? Weird huh. So today in geography we spent 50 minutes covering everything about Montr?al. For example when Montr?al was first founded it was in a primary shipping lane. Montr?al Island had to stop and be carried over the island to the other side and put back into the St. Lawrence River to be carried to the Atlantic Ocean. However in the winter time ice flows down the Ottawa River from the north and clogs up the rapids forming a natural reservoir west of Montr?al. Then in the spring the ice melts and the island floods, all except Mount Royal (Montr?al), a small hill in the center of the island, which is were they founded the city. On a not so fun note we have a cat that pees in one corner of the laundry room and another cat that has anal leakage problems. Seriously it sucks a lot. I have gotten 96% on both my math and geography tests. So I rock. Sarah has been working on a photo project that involves using a 4x5 view camera. To understand what a view camera is picture an old fashion camera. You know the kind with bellows. Weighs like 400 lbs. ok not really 400lbs. like 20 maybe 30. Sarah and I might be getting trogdor shirts.
So that?s all I love everyone and Sarah
    love Dylan

  • Sep 30, 2003 — proper spelling

So school is funny for me. I enjoy waking around campus and seeing all of the people. The funniest thing for me is that some girls still get dressed up every day for school. Why?? I sure don’t also I don’t really look that good in a skirt. Speaking of skirts… why would you where a short skirt (just below your but) and a winter coat?? I will never understand. Ever. It is also funny for me to learn geography. Geography rocks. My professor Dr. Dunn is insane. He makes learning fun and educational. (As learning should be) I am still working at the fort of fun. It is ok. It would be better if I got free video games all the time. I played Simpson?s pinball on Friday night it is an overall good pinball game and covers everything Simpson?s. From rocket ships to a qwick e mart. I sometimes cannot spell very well. I had to right an essay in math class. It was cool I guess. I basically go t to rant on why I dislike the math class. So far I have tried to spell class-calls-calss it rocks. I got a 96 on my first math test. It was pretty awesome. So that is all

I will try to make a utility belt that will hold a bag of balls as well as three juggling clubs. i will add to that a cape that has a giant UC on the back. • Jul 24, 2003 — B+ Writing

Apparently I am a B+ writer. No matter how well I seem to write I always seem to get a B+. And I always get a B+ for the same problem: COMMA SPLICES. Now for those of you who don’t know a comma splice or CS is when you have to sentence fragments combined or spliced with a comma. I am unable to find these in my own writing. I am slowly getting better but it is an uphill battle. At the beginning of my schooling this summer my English teacher told my class to use the writing center for help. She suggested that we go into the writing center and tell the people there what they needed to look for. I went in with my last paper, Cheese Please, and asked the guy there to look for comma splices. He found a couple and I was able to fix them before I went to class. What frustrated me was that when I got my paper back my teacher had found not one or two comma splices but five. So Captain Writing Center had found only a few of these comma splices and since I trusted his judgment I got a B+. Well never again will I use the Writing Center at UNC.
After this had happened to me a spoke with a few of my class mates. It seems that quite a few of them went in to get spelling checked or the use of homonyms (there they’re their), and low and behold they both had spelling errors and homonym use wrong respectively. This seems to be a common trend at the writing center and it makes me wonder how they find the people to work there. I was talking to the professor who runs the writing center and she told me that in order to work at the writing center you have to get work study. So it appears that working there has nothing to do with academic ability it has to do with financial need. Does that make since? Oh I’m sorry even though you are a great writer and never have any grammar mistakes you cannot work here because your family makes to much money. WTF. I’ll never understand that.
On a lighter note I am having fun writing and also doing pretty good at school. Life is good I am in love with the most beautiful girl in the world. Everybody email HARPER and thank him for making my site cool.

  • Jul 19, 2003 — Writing

    Hello Everyone.
So I have really started enjoying writing. I blame college composition. I just thought i would let everyone know that. I am having fun in school, I have succeded in taking 5 or 6 strokes off of my golf game. Also I have gotten a B on my first sociology exam and a B+ on my first paper in english.
Greeley has gotten hotter then hell lately. The heat sucks, a lot. Walking from my car to class is like being stranded in the Sahara Desert with out water. I only wish that I had a pet camel to ride on to class. Imagine it.
The bright sun beating down on the hot desert sand, a lone rider sits atop his gigantic camel. He starts foward and his camel trips tossing him down on the scorching hot sand, his camel bolts running off two the horizon. He stands there alone with no water. slowly he starts walking.
Thats me everyday as I trudge to class. I walk slowly, unable to move faster then a funeral march. I see shade ahead, an oasis, I start to walk faster. I am walking faster now, starting to get dizzy, just wishing to get away from the heat. I break through to the shade and get a moments reprieve from the heat, only to be forced to walk back out into the sun to continue to class.
Up ahead I see Candeleria Hall, that monument of learning and air conditioning, my stride quickens, I am almost skipping now. I get to the building and open the refridgerator like door. I enter and am in heaven.
Thats how it is everyday going to class. All I want to know is whose great idea it was to buid this town in the midde of a desert. Thats all.
So any who, I hope everyone is doing good and having fun. I am. I love my family, Sarah and my kitties.
    Love Dylan

  • Jul 11, 2003 — Sorry My BAd

Hello. I am the biggest slacker on the internet it has been since the indy 500 since i have up dated my site. here is a quick recap of what has been going on.
uniculing is insane i have been doing quite a bit of it and am trying to learn how to do it one footed. idleing has gotten easier and easier and soon i should be able to juggle. i haven’t tried to learn any new mounts yet but maybe later.
i am going back to school again. i am having lots of fun and am doing a pretty good job. my hardest class is golf…ok not golf but that is a fun class. i am also taking english comp which is fun but also kindof lame (hope my teacher dosn’t look) and an online sociology class. i wish i could do all my classes online. that would rule. it is so much easier because all i do is read the book. read the lectures answer questions and discuss online.
i have now read almost all kurt vonnegut books. my favorites are mother night and sirens of titan. i have also recently read a man in a high castle by philip k dick. i have to reread it in order to understand it. about three days after the 5th harry potter book came out i was done with it. i would have been done sooner but i was taking a scuba diving class. so thats that
i am about two class away from being a scuba instructor. so that is good. it should be fun when i finally make it to instructor.
everyone should go visit harpers website(nata2.org

I have started to work on more trials type stuff and am going to convert my sem cycle into a MUni(mountain Unicycle.) basically made to do rough terrain. it should be fun. yesterday i tried really hard to hurt my self on it by doing some big drops (1.5 feet or so) it is scary. hopefully there will be video soon. any who by

  • Apr 29, 2003 — Harper Sucks

Hello Everyone. This last weekend was quite an adventure. Harper calls me on Wednesday and says hey your coming to Chicago to come to a juggling fest it was quite a bit of fun. I learned how to do some new stuff on unicycles such as two different kick up mounts the 180 mount the suicide mount and the on leg around mount. I also learned how to juggle ten clubs with Harper and matiss. Now that we are on the subject of juggling I will tell you why Harper sux. We were competing in the ten club-3 person endurance. It is something that I learned just that day. Harper is talking all this trash about if we lose I am walking home and then he drops in the first 30 seconds if that. Ok so he isn’t really that crappy but maybe a little at least. Also there is the gayness test that everyone should take. I am 33% gay, Sarah is 30% and Idy is 36% gay. Harper is 46%gay. Boy is he gay. Hopefully soon I will have videos from juggle fest up (hint hint Harper). As soon as I do you can all watch me fall and hurt my self over and over again. I have decided that it would be nice to have a digital video camera so I can make videos of myself doing silly stuff. Anyone who wants to sponsor my video camera email me and I?ll stick a sticker with you name on it on my unicycle. Well thanks. Go here for south park and here for weird cat stuff and here for no good reason

  • Apr 29, 2003 — Retraction of previous

I am retracting my previous statemets about harper. yes he did drop first in the comp. but i was probably going to drop anyway and 46% gay by the gayness test isn’t really that gay. so i apologize to anyone offended by my comments and hope to get my cell phone charger soon.

  • Apr 14, 2003 — After this break

Hello all and welcome back to the Dylan Show. On this episode we have an exciting show planned for you. To start off I will talk about my last week and then i will tell you about all the new stuff i have learned. To start off with since you last heard from me I had just had a wild adventure into the wilds of Wyoming. Well i am sorry to say that this last week just wasn’t as exciting. Work is slow so not alot of money to be had there. The only cool thing was friday i spent all day inside of a ten foot diameter pipe. yes inside. woo hoo. sweet. yippee. wish i was still there, that is how exciting it was. that was last week. also last week i practiced unicycling quite a bit. I can now idle like 10 times bfore i eat cement. It is funny because i spent so much time trying to do it and failing that yesterday i just thought it through and bam i did it 10 times first try. it was sweet. Thomas is getting bigger. for those of you who forgot who thomas is click here. that is all love everyone have good weeks. good bye

  • Apr 02, 2003 — On The Road Again

    Howdy Folks!
Its me, Dylan the wondering explorer. This last weekend I had a really exciting adventure in the the daring and crazy world of Trona mines. Trona is a substance used to create many fertilizers. It is also were soda ash comes from. I was working there for FMC (the biggest miner of trona in the world) What was I doing there you ask? I was de-magnitizing a router on a turbine engine used on there in house electrical generators. Now this trip was not without perils. First I had to venture in to the scary world of WYOMING (dun dun dunnnnnn). Rick, my boss, and I traveled with little thought to are own danger in to the inbreding wilds on southern wyoming straying only about 100 miles north of Utah. After and exhausting day of reading Player Piano while rick drove we ended up in Rock Springs WY. Home of Whorehouses and a Motel 8. Luckily Motel 8 had a vacancy. We ventured out shortly after ariving to hunt the rare buffet!Shortly after eating we were tired so we retired to a nice evening of sleeping and reading (Bluebeard). We awoke at the Crack of dawn to venture further west towards green river and the mine of DOOM. We arrived in relitive safty since it was a Monday and most of the hicks were still drunk from church. We safely demaged the router and were gone before the great hoe-down started.
    Hope you enjoyed my story
    love dylan

  • Mar 21, 2003 — Snow and Work

Hello. its me again. i know what am i doing writing again so soon. so this week in colorado it has been crazy. it snowed like hell had frozen over. we got more snow in a few days then i have seen in a couple of years. nevermind the fact that one of those years was spent almost exclusivly in Long Beach. so anywho. since there was at least a foot of snow on the ground this week and most of ft collins and denver were both shut down i havn’e worked since monday. a nice rest, but alas no workies no monies. so tonight at 11pm i have to be at the shop to pick up a gamma ray camera containing a pill(small amount) of iridium 192 to use to take pictures of concrete. that will go from about 11pm until 2or3 am so yeah for me. woohoo.tired already. i enjoy the snow because it is fun to drive in and makes lots of puddles, but people need to learn how to drive in the snowy conditions. today i saw 3 car accidents that basically shut down a whole road. it was rediculous. also people in ft collins are rude on the road. i am used to Cali were people were curteous enough to let you in in you were merging not here however. also 4 way stops in the fort are a try to fit as many people going on way through no matter who got there first. well the cat is great see picture last post. more to come. i love sarah and mom and dad and harper and thomas

  • Mar 18, 2003 — New Cat

Sorry it has been so long since i last wrote but alas i have been working. I am workin for COOPERHEAT-MQS It is alot of fun but also the work isn’t especially steady. I mostly do magnetic particle inspections and also some Dye Penetrant inspections. This past weekend I got to work on a heat treating job in Longmont at a company called TANCO. Tanco build humongous tanks and we have to heat treat them. It basically involves heating them up to between 1100 and 1600f and then cooling them at 200 degrees an hour.

Hello Everyone. It has been a while and I am sorry. It has been a long couple of weeks and I have been nothing but a slacker. I have about 4 weeks left of school and for about a week of that it is Thanksgiving. Sweet. Recently I watched Jackass the movie. I found it amusing and yet strangely stupid. Ok really stupid. I took a test last Tuesday and got a 95 on it. The test was on Ultrasonic testing level II- Shear wave. Now I would like to take the time to post an email sent to me by one of Harpers friends as well as a response.

I can’t sleep. It Sucks A Lot. I have been trying to sleep for the past couple of hours and it isn’t working. I have given up on sleep. it is 12:15 and i need to be up in about an hour so i’ll just sleep later. i am sitting around playing video games with my roomate and Waylon, it is fun. we are playing redcard 2003. It is OK. At 1:00 or so we are going to get donuts and coffee at a donut shop by my house. yippee. I hope that we get done quickly tomarrow. I am enjoying school aside from the fact that i have to go to school so early that it messes with my head alot. In about 3 weeks i will be done getting up early and will start doing 8-5 school which will be nice. I am going to go into the NDT\spec tech program. NDT is non-destructive testing. This is what you do to test welds and corrosion on metal and other materials. It is used everywhere from car manufacturers to brewerys. It sounds like it will be a good time and if it isn’t i can quickly switch to the med tech program. I have been doing some thinking and i think that I need to get back on a normal sleep schedule, this isn’t going to happen anytime soon because i work from 4pm-12am on fri and sat so that will mess me up again. I am tired and whiney. Did anyone like the pictures of my school?? it is the one without the swimming pool. I love you very much sarah and am very excited to marry you. i love you mom and dad. Scooter get well. love you harper. Hee Hee.

  • May 20, 2002 — FUN TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello. I had a fun week this last week. It all started Monday. I went to welding school. It was fun, I got to cut with an oxy- acetelyn torch (bring on the safes) and I got to work on my bead with 7018 rod. When I got home from welding I though it would be fun to play a little basketball. Randy (my roommate) and I played 4 games one on one. I won the last one. Then my other roommate Josh and my friend from school Waylon came out and we played Randy and I vs. Waylon and Josh. Randy and I won. Then a couple of High school students came out and we played 3v3. During this game I succeeded in rolling my right ankle. It sucked. I then soaked my ankle in the pool for 15min and then the hot tub for 15min for about 2 hours. The next day I got up and went to school. I explained to the MASTER DIVER that I had hurt my ankle so he sent me to the local free clinic to get an x-ray. 2 hours later I got to see a doctor. He looked at my ankle for about 5 seconds and then sent me back to the waiting room for 30 more minutes to wait for an x ray. After that he looked at my x ray said I was fine and sent me on my way. Since I couldn’t drive I had gotten a ride from one of my classmates, which meant that I had to wait for my ride to come back and pick me up. That took another 45 min. When I got back to school I had to get in my wetsuit and in the water to make up for lost dive time. I did a dive in the band mask and did pneumo breathing. That means that your air is cut off and so you have to stuff your pneumo hose (a hose used to gauge depth using air pressure) in to your helmet. You say, ?Diver lost primary shoot the pneumo?. You then stuff it up into your helmet and breathe. After I did it on the band mask I had to surface and go straight to the superlite 17b. Oh did I mention that you have to pneumo breath on you r stomach on your back and upside-down. When you get upside down water rushes into your helmet, which sure is fun. I realize that this doesn?t sound to bad but just wait. On weds I just kind of chilled and let my footrest. On Thursday I went to school and we had to do what are called ditch and dons. This means that you go under water wearing a helmet and then take it off and put it back on three times in ten minutes. It is fun, really. I was the first person to go in on the superlite 17b. It kicked my butt. I couldn?t do it I was in the water for 10 min and I got it off three times and on two times, doh! The next helmet is the band mask; it is simple because it is a soft hat. You just rip it off and force it back on I did it in about 3 minutes. Then I moved to the miller. The miller is a big brass hat. It is heavy, as in 1\5 of my body weight. (I might have exaggerated earlier when I said it weighed 60 but never mind.) It has a neoprene and brass neck dam. The helmet itself has two cams, one on each side, you have to align the neck dam and then cam it up. It is hard on the surface but is cake underwater. It took me 5 min. I then got to go back to the superlite and try it one more time. It took me 4 min this time. I then celebrated by doing a flip under water and yelling a lot. Thursday night I went home and went to sleep. I woke up late on Friday. That was my week. I got an A in my class and will remain on the dean?s list for another class. My next class will be the sat barge where class start at 2:30 am on Tuesday and 1:30 on Thursday Sweet. I had a lot of fun this week. I love you Sarah and Harper and mom and dad and everyone else. Peace out?. Heehee. Pictures to come.

  • May 05, 2002 — This is a kirby morgan

This is a kirby morgan bandmask 18b. on last thursday in my class we were required to breathe from just the shell of the mask. the shell is the yellow part of the mask. the trick with this is that there is no seal over your mouth so you have to sip the air out of a pocket you create. you have to go under and do this for 10 minutes. they have three tanks and one person in each tank. the first three people that went where unable to do it. since I was part of the next group i started to get a little nervous. when my turn came i suited up with my 28 lbs of weught and my steel toed bottom boots. i was in my wetsuit and had the shell in hand. as i walked down the later the water started to creep up my wetsuit. talk about cold. really really cold. i placed my head all the way underwater to get used to the frigid water. i then test breathed the shell, it was easy. i then headed to the bottom of the tank. a whole 9 ft of water. once you reach the bottom you have to move to the viewport in the tank so master diver bob cave can watch you brethe. every two breathes you have to pull the mask away from your face and number off 5 on your hand. it was fun. i started taking the mask off and doing either a front or back flips instead of counting. this is an exercise that simulates what you have to do if your mask blows off of your face. in the afternoon we did shell buddy breathing which was two people sharing one shell underwater. it was fun two breathes and pass, repeat. it was really fun. on tuesday i think we are going to start using the full masks including the kirby morgan superlight 17 and 27, kmb 18b and the miller. all of hose are demand hats. this means that you get air when you inhale and so it uses less air and is more efficient. the other type is freeflow, ex. desco or mark v. in free flow the air just constantly flows through the helmet. the demand hats have what is called an oral nasel mask that is like what fighter pilots use to breathe at high altitudes. anyway that was thurs. love dylan

  • May 01, 2002 — I think that my site

I think that my site will get cooler. I am going to add a paypal donation site as well as a book review site. (thanx Harper) I am hopeing to review all the books I have been reading. On a school note i made deans list again. I am doing good exceot for the fact that i miss everybody and i wish i was home. i have a weird story. last friday morning i woke up and my left pinky was numb. I just thought that it was asleep and would be fine. It is still numb. I asked one of the medical people at my school and they said that i had probably just pinched a nerve and to give it about a week to get better. so if i still have a numb pinky on fri. off it comes i’ll just hack it right off. Or i’ll just go to the doctor. I hope it is okay. I have also started exerciseing regularly. I run or swim everyday. if i run i do it for about 30 mins and if i swim i swim about 10 laps. I also have been doing push ups and situps in hopes of becoming the next action hero in movies. heehee. that would be sweet. I was in downtown long beach today and they were blocking of a whole street and they had lights set up and cameras and dressing rooms. I can only assume they are filming a movie. so of course i pretended that i was with the company and tried to sneak on to the set. i didn’t make it and I didn’t even see anybody famous. sad day mr bill. I hope everyone is doing okay and i am sorry that i haven’t poasted recently. i am doing good. Sarah you are the most beautiful girl on the whole planet and I love you so much. mom and dad i miss you guys alot. school is good. mom check your email. Harper thx for your help. Love to everyone. peace……………………….heehee

I think it is interesting because it means in 3 more class days i’ll be getting in the water. it is so cool. my phone is starting to die. the battery charge is only holding for about 1 hour now it sux. i am looking at new phones but they cost money so please pay pal me money. harper can you set up paypal on my sight so people can donate me money for a new phone thanx. any way. you guys should all have a good couple of days and i’ll be back with a nother update of my school. oh by the way i made the deans list again. doing the happy dance, doing the happy dance. woohoo.

  • Apr 11, 2002 — Sarah is really pretty.

    Sarah is really pretty.

  • Apr 10, 2002 — Today was sweet. I went

Today was sweet. I went to school today and we learned about a phenomenom called Delta P. Delta P is a suction created by a having two or more bodies of water connected by a tube or pipe. When the bodies of water are of inequal depths then there is a suction force equal to the surface area of the hole times the difference in depth times .445 if sea water or .436 if fresh water.(.445 is the weight of 1 foot of sea water in pounds per square inch, .436 is… figure it out.) If your arm was to get sucked into a hole 10 inches in diameter and there was a depth difference of 50 FSW (feet sea water) getting your arm out would be equal to lifting up 1760 lbs with one hand. Thats like a subaru WRX. We watched a video on it and they had cool fottage of a Crab the size of my head being sucked into a crack the size of the scroll bar on the side of your screen. (–>) It showed it getting stuck and then half was sucked in and then the rest was sucked in. Sweet. Sad but Sweet. Also this afternoon I got to do what is called a modified treatment table 6a (the school calls it the narc dive). This consists of going down to 165 FSW (see above) at 75fpm (Feet per minute). When you reach this depth breathing air the partial pressure of Nitrogen is increased about six times. This makes you drunk or narc’d. This is because Nitrogen has an adverse affect on your nervous system in the same way that alchohal does. This is known as nitrogen narcosis. It is fun. We stayed down fo about 10 mins and I have never laughed harder in my life. When we are at the surface they make us do one of those puzzles were you put the shapes inside of the proper shaped hole. It took me 16 secs on the surface and 26 secs on the bottom. Anyway take notes quiz next post. I love you Sarah. bye everyone

I’ve been busy lately streetperforming. i found a couple of good places to perform at and am having fun. school is good. we did what is called the darth Vader project. we had to place 7 pieces of pipe, each piece weighs about 200lbs, following a diagram. my team got it done in 40mins (a record time) but then are teacher was able to loosen two of our bolts by hand which resulted in a 10min penelty. are total time was 50 mins which was still faster then the other 4 teams from my class. woohoo. next weekend sarah comes out and i get to see her for a whole week yippee!!

  • Feb 26, 2002 — It finally works

Hey everyone my log finally works. Sweet!! I am in California in case you didn’t know. I am going to dive school at the College of Oceaneering, I am studying to be an advanced hyperbaric technician and plan to work in a hospital setting. Right now I am in a class called rigging or bosuns skills. Basiclally it is a class that teaches about knot tying and forklift driving, as well as other useful skill if you were on a boat. My last class was called physics and physiology and it covered the dangers of commercial divers and the different kinds of barotrauma (trauma caused by great pressures). My teacher for that was Scott Cassell who is a crazy diver who I think is pretty cool. He dives and films dangerous animals and gets attacked by them. Sweet!! My teacher for Rigging is Scott Young. He is pretty cool, He is a pretty gruff old seaman. He has also done some pretty crazy stuff. I go to school on tues and thurs and work mon, weds and fri. On weekends I am planning on doing some street performing in venice beach. This weekend I am going home to visit family and friends and to celebrate my 21st birthday. Yipee!! Hey Sarah I Love You A Lot!!!. Anyway check back often I’ll try to update this at least once a week. email me at dylan@dylanreed.org. thanks.
