I redesigned my website again, as you may have noticed. I have been spending a lot of time playing with claude code and I am amazed the things I can get done with it. This website is a perfect example of the difference between the different AIs. My previous retrowave theme I created with the help of chatGPT and it was fine… but this one is amazing.
Growing up I played Sierra games like Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and Quest for Glory. These are point and click games where you interact with the screen to get your character to do something. It is basically an escape room of sorts where you have to solve puzzles to get to the next area. I love them still.
The visual style of these games (we are talk CGA, EGA, and VGA) are very specific to their time and honestly I feel like VGA graphics are peak graphics for this type of game. Not too fancy but beautiful. The work that went in to making these games blows my mind and also how tiny the files are to make these games go. Kings Quest V, my personal favorite, is only 9.2mb. This is 8-10 hours of gameplay if you just burn through it, more accurately 20-25 hours because these games are hard. When I was playing them there was no internet, just figuring it out as you go. But this post isn’t about Sierra games… so I will save that for another post.
This is about creating a theme for my blog that is everything I have ever wanted in a theme. It is chaos incarnate and is super fun. It has pixel art, ridiculous things, a Sierra like menu, Achievements. And all of that. I am so excited to play with it more. You should enjoy it as well.
